Ty Wigginton went 0-for-2 with a walk in Monday's loss to the Padres.
He was also caught stealing. Wigginton doesn't draw many starts, and he doesn't do much with them when he does, slashing .194/.286/.226 with no homers or steals and one RBI through 31 at-bats. St. Louis doesn't often make mistakes, but the two-year, $5 million deal they gifted Wigginton in mid-December certainly qualifies. May 21 - 3:16 AM

Ty Wigginton went 0-for-3 on Tuesday and is 4-for-32 with one RBI this spring.

If Wigginton were in camp on a minor league deal, one imagines he'd have a tough time winning a spot on the St. Louis bench. Fortunately for him, he was given a two-year, $5 million deal in December, so he has nothing to worry about.

Cardinals signed INF/OF Ty Wigginton to a two-year, $5 million contract.

Wigginton passed a physical in St. Louis Friday, making the deal official. The 35-year-old batted just .235/.314/.375 last season for the Phillies but posted his seventh straight year with double-digit home runs. He should give the Cards the right-handed pop off the bench that they were looking for and also offers some versatility.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Cardinals have signed Ty Wigginton to a two-year contract in the $5 million range.

The Cards were looking for a little more right-handed pop off the bench, and Wigginton satisfies that need. The 35-year-old batted just .235/.314/.375 last season for the Phillies but posted his seventh straight season with double-digit home runs. He also boasts a nice .270/.354/.456 career line against left-handed pitching. Wigginton will back up at both infield and outfield corners and can also fill in at second base in a pinch.

The Phillies will decline Ty Wigginton's $4 million option this offseason.

With Domonic Brown, John Mayberry Jr, and Darin Ruf all returning, Wiggington won't be needed as a reserve infielder/outfielder. In addition to Wigginton, the Phillies are not expected to bring back free agent Juan Pierre.

Kevin Kernan of the New York Post reports that the Yankees asked the Phillies about the availability of Ty Wigginton, but Philadelphia said they were "not ready to move him yet."

The Yankees could use Wigginton at third base while Alex Rodriguez is on the shelf, but evidently Philly wants to hang on to him with Placido Polanco also out of action. While the Phillies have played much better ball of late, they can't realistically consider themselves playoff contenders. So if the Yanks are persistent in their pursuit of Wigginton, they could probably make something happen.

Ty Wigginton finished 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Wigginton hit a solo shot to left field in the fifth, a single in the seventh and an RBI double in the ninth. But the Dodgers were able to hold on for their 36th win. Wigginton is batting .266/.345/.416 with six homers and 25 RBI this season.

Ty Wigginton drove in six runs with a homer, a double and a single in Monday's defeat of the Mets.

Wigginton had been in an 8-for-59 slump since May 3, but he had a monster game today. Not only did he collect three hits, but he walked in his other two plate appearances. The six RBI matches his total from his previous 23 games combined.

Ty Wigginton had a nice night at the plate on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI in the Phillies 10-9 victory over the Cardinals.

Wigginton also came around to score three times in the game. His solo shot off of Victor Marte in the eighth inning provided valuable insurance, and would stand as the eventual winning run in the game. He's now hitting .254 with three homers and 16 RBI in a part time role for the Phillies. He's still a useful contributor in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues, though he stands to see a considerable drop in playing time upon Ryan Howard's return.

Ty Wigginton could be a late scratch from Friday's lineup depending upon how he feels after batting practice.

Wigginton hasn't started since Monday due to soreness in his side. If he feels good enough to go, he'll play first base and bat fifth against Padres' left-hander Clayton Richard.

Ty Wigginton's two-run single helped pace the Phillies offensive attack in their 4-2 victory over Brandon Beachy and the Braves on Tuesday.

Wigginton finished the game 1-for-4, though the two run single in the fourth inning may have been the biggest hit of the game. He's seen an increase in his playing time recently with John Mayberry struggling and Jim Thome battling a back injury. Wigginton qualifies at several different positions, and is hitting .317 with decent power. He's a very valuable asset to have on your fantasy team.

Ty Wigginton went 2-for-4 including a solo homer in a losing effort against the Cubs on Friday.

The solo shot off of Paul Maholm in the seventh inning was his second of the season and accounted for all off the Phillies scoring in this one. He’s played on a nearly every day basis in the early part of the season, filling in for the injured Ryan Howard, and is off to a strong start offensively. With Friday’s two-hit effort, he’s now hitting .320 with two homers and seven RBI on the season.

Ty Wigginton has hit safely in each of his last six games.

Wigginton's batting average was down to .222 a week ago, but he's now hitting .308 (12-for-39) through 14 games this season. The 34-year-old is a .265 career hitter and batted just .242 with the Rockies last year, but his multi-position eligibility makes him worth considering in deeper mixed formats.

Ty Wigginton is starting at first base for the Phillies on Opening Day against the Pirates.

Jim Thome is also expected to see semi-regular starts at first base as Ryan Howard continues his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon. Wigginton hasn't posted an OPS better than .731 since the 2008 season and can be ignored this year in most fantasy formats.
