Travis Hafner (shoulder) clubbed a two-run homer in his return to action Saturday.
It sounds like his shoulder is fine. Hafner now has seven homers in 100 at-bats this season, including five in just 54 at-bats at Yankee Stadium. The 35-year-old is not a good bet to hold up, but he should continue to be a useful option in daily fantasy leagues. May 18 - 3:49 PM

Travis Hafner (shoulder) returned to the Yankees' lineup Saturday.

Hafner was available to pinch-hit Friday, but didn't start against left-hander Mark Buehrle. He returns after missing the last four games with shoulder tendinitis. With Curtis Granderson now healthy, the Yankees will go with a committee of Hafner and Vernon Wells at designated hitter. Hafner is batting .260/.383/.510 this season.

Travis Hafner (shoulder) says he's available to pinch-hit Friday.

Hafner hasn't played since Monday due to shoulder tendinitis, but he was encouraged after a batting practice session Thursday. He likely would have started against a right-hander, but southpaw Mark Buehrle is on the hill for the Blue Jays. Perhaps he'll be back in there Saturday against Brandon Morrow.
May 17 - 4:10 PM

Travis Hafner (shoulder) is out of the Yankees' lineup for the third straight day Thursday.

Hafner hasn't played since Monday due to tendinitis in his right shoulder. He was scheduled to do some hitting prior to Thursday's game, so it's possible that he'll be available to pinch-hit.
May 16 - 6:01 PM

Travis Hafner (shoulder) hopes to return to the starting lineup Thursday.

Hafner hasn't played since Monday due to shoulder soreness. An MRI on Tuesday revealed tendinitis, so he's considered day-to-day for now.
May 15 - 3:43 PM

Travis Hafner will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder.

Hafner has been experiencing shoulder soreness recently, so he's going to rest for a few days and try to get some answers. The 35-year-old has a lengthy injury history, so the Yankees will be cautious. Fortunately, the Yankees can plug Vernon Wells in at DH now that Curtis Granderson (forearm) is back from the disabled list.
May 14 - 4:05 PM

Travis Hafner went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the Yankees' win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Hafner did his damage with three singles, moving his RBI total to 17. Hitting .318, the designated hitter has entrenched himself in the Yankees' lineup. When he's hitting like this, he's worth a look in all mixed leagues.
Apr 30 - 11:30 PM

Travis Hafner homered and tripled in the Yankees' 5-4 defeat of the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Hafner hit a three-run shot over the right-center field fence in the bottom of the fourth inning and an RBI triple in the seventh, finishing the day with four total RBI. The veteran designated hitter has been a steal for the Yankees so far, boasting a .309/.433/.727 batting line, six home runs and 14 RBI in 19 games this season. He should keep rolling if he remains healthy.
Apr 27 - 7:09 PM

Travis Hafner belted a pinch-hit, go-ahead solo homer in Wednesday's comeback win over the Diamondbacks.

Hafner didn't start with the opposition sending a lefty to the mound, but he got his chance against right-handed electric setup man David Hernandez in the eighth and didn't disappoint. Pronk is now batting .342 with four bombs this season and needs to be started in mixed leagues while he's healthy and has a hot bat.
Apr 17 - 9:51 PM

Travis Hafner had a huge day in his return to Cleveland on Monday, as he went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI.

Hafner launched a three-run homer to straightaway center in first at-bat and added an RBI single in the third inning. He also drew two walks and scored three times. "Pronk" has hit safely in all seven games this season and should have value in deeper mixed leagues as long as he's healthy.
Apr 8 - 8:04 PM

The Yankees are not concerned about the general stiffness that prevented Travis Hafner from playing Saturday.

"He just wasn’t able to do his normal routine, his normal cage stuff," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "He was a little stiff. Nothing to be concerned about. He spends a lot of time getting loose every day and doing his routine, getting in hot tubs and taking his time in the cage. We just didn’t have time to do that today." Hafner should be fine for the start of the 2013 regular season.
Mar 30 - 6:00 PM

Travis Hafner has been scratched from Saturday's lineup due to general stiffness.

The extent of the injury still hasn't been reported, but he does have a history of back issues. The Yankees should update his status soon.
Mar 30 - 2:10 PM

Travis Hafner went 3-for-4 win a double and a run scored Tuesday against the Astros.

Pronk is batting just .195 this spring after the three-hit night, but he does have two homers and two doubles. He's a poor bet to stay healthy, of course, but is an intriguing daily league play this season against righties with the short porch at Yankee Stadium.
Mar 26 - 10:38 PM

Travis Hafner went 0-for-3 and struck out twice Tuesday against the Phillies.

Hafner appears to be in need of more at-bats than he's been getting. He is 4-for-29 with one homer and 12 strikeouts this spring. Hafner's contract is guaranteed, so he's still assured of being the Yankees' DH against right-handed pitchers.
Mar 19 - 4:49 PM

Yankees signed DH Travis Hafner to a one-year, $2 million contract.

He'll have a chance to make $4 million more through incentives. Hafner is obviously a poor bet to stay healthy, but he's a good bet to be pretty productive when on the field, and, at $2 million, the Yanks haven't risked much. The 35-year-old batted .228/.346/.438 with 12 home runs and a .784 OPS in 66 games with the Indians last season while battling knee and back injuries. He'll be the Bombers' regular DH against right-handed pitching.
