Ricardo Rodriguez yielded one run and three hits in four innings Wednesday in his first start for Triple-A Richmond.

Rodriguez is decent insurance for the Braves. He is more likely to join the team as a reliever than as a starter, but he'll remain a starter at Richmond for now.

Phillies released RHP Ricardo Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who was out of options, had a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings. "He doesn't figure into the rotation and inconsistency with his control makes it tough to put him in the bullpen," GM Pat Gillick said. "Maybe he needs a fresh start." This leaves the Phillies nothing to show for Vicente Padilla. The 27-year-old Rodriguez may find himself in a Triple-A rotation to begin the year.

Ricardo Rodriguez threw three hitless innings of relief tonight in the Phillies' 5-4 win over the Pirates.

He has pitched 13 innings and allowed six runs this spring. Rodriguez remains in the running for a spot in middle relief, though if he's carried over Robinson Tejeda, it will probably because Tejeda has options remaining and he doesn't.

Ricardo Rodriguez lasted four innings against the Tigers today and surrendered two runs in a no-decision.

The Phillies won 3-2 after the bullpen pitched five scoreless innings. Rodriguez, in the running for a middle-relief job or even a spot in the rotation should anything open up, has given up three runs in eight innings.

Ricardo Rodriguez started against the Blue Jays today and allowed one run in two innings.

The run scored on John-Ford Griffin's homer. Rodriguez is a long shot for a spot in the Phillies' rotation. There's a better chance that he'll make the team as a reliever.

Phillies acquired RHP Ricardo Rodriguez from the Rangers to complete the Vicente Padilla trade.

Padilla was picked over 17-year-old infielder Julio Gonzalez. Rodriguez is a nice return for a player they were going to non-tender anyway. Limited by injuries, he has a 5.18 ERA in 206 2/3 innings as a major leaguer. He's been rather successful at getting grounders, though. The Phillies should keep him as a middle reliever.

Ricardo Rodriguez is one of two players the Phillies are considering as the PTBN in the Vicente Padilla trade.

The other is 17-year-old infieled Julio Gonzalez, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Rodriguez has had more than his share of injuries of late, but he still has some value. The Phillies would likely put him in middle relief.

Ricardo Rodriguez (bruised right shoulder) won't come off the DL when he is eligible on Wednesday.

He still hasn't pitched off a mound in Arizona.

Rangers placed RHP Ricardo Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder contusion.

Rodriguez was hit by a line drive in his brief start last night, but it didn't seem like a serious injury at all. Unfortunately, this means that C.J. Wilson will likely make a couple of more starts for the Rangers.

Ricardo Rodriguez lasted only two-thirds of an inning and gave up four runs tonight against the Red Sox.

James Baldwin bailed him out of a bases-loaded jam to conclude the first. Rodriguez had pitched seven innings in each of his previous two starts. He should get to keep his rotation spot for now, but he's on thin ice.

Ricardo Rodriguez fell to 2-3 after getting touched up for six runs -- five earned -- over seven-plus innings tonight against the Devil Rays.

Rodriguez didn't walk a batter and struck out three, but eight hits did him in tonight. He was actually pitching fairly well until he started the eighth by allowing three straight singles. All three runners came around to score after reliever Kameron Loe entered.

Ricardo Rodriguez pitched seven innings and allowed one run and six hits tonight against the Orioles.

His best start since joining the Rangers in June. Rodriguez has had to face a brutal schedule over the last month, but he has a 4.74 ERA. Unless the Rangers manage to acquire more than one starting pitcher, Rodriguez should get to keep his rotation spot.

Ricardo Rodriguez was removed after allowing five runs in 5 2/3 innings tonight in a loss to the A's.

Rodriguez's last four starts have come against the Angels, Red Sox, Yankees and A's, so it's not much of a surprise that his ERA is up to 5.31. Since he gets the Orioles next, his struggles may continue.

Ricardo Rodriguez was charged with six runs in 2 2/3 innings tonight against the Yankees.

All six runs scored in the second. A couple of singles got through the infield to get the inning started. On the second one, a good throw from Gary Matthews Jr. would have nailed Alex Rodriguez, who was trying to take third. Instead, Matthews missed the target by 10 feet, and things unraveled after Ruben Sierra fanned for the first out of the inning. Rodriguez will stay in the rotation and is still likely to have a little value in AL-only leagues.
