Angels signed INF Bill Hall to a minor league contract.

Hall, 33, was released by the team on March 22 after he failed to make the club out of spring. He hasn't played more than 62 games at the major league level since 2010.

Hall was limited to just nine at-bats this spring due to a calf strain that's still an issue. It's possible he'll return to the club eventually after he gets healthy.

Bill Hall can become a free agent on March 26, but he said Wednesday that he would consider staying with the Angels on a minor league deal.

Per the terms of Hall's minor league deal, the Angels are supposed to decide by March 26 whether to include him on their 25-man roster. That's not going to happen now that he's nursing a left calf strain, but he could still stick around in the organization.

Hall will visit Dr. Lewis Yocum on Friday before it's determined how much time he'll miss. His slim chances at winning an Opening Day roster spot have gone out the window.

Bill Hall is undergoing an MRI on his left calf.

Hall felt tightness in the calf on Wednesday during infield drills and acknowledged to reporters on Thursday morning in Angels camp that he is "concerned" about what the test might show. The veteran infielder is no longer in the running for an Opening Day roster spot.

Bill Hall, who has been recovering from a tight right quad, felt tightness in a calf muscle on Wednesday.

It's unrelated to his previous quad injury, but it's obviously a significant setback. Hall signed a minor league contract with the Angels in late January. He now has no chance of earning an Opening Day roster spot.

Bill Hall was removed from Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Giants with a tight right quad.

The Angels are calling him "day-to-day." Hall signed a minor league contract with Anaheim in late January and is doubtful to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Hall, 33, spent most of 2012 with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia. He has 125 home runs and a .248 batting average in his 11-year MLB career.

Orioles purchased the contract of INF-OF Bill Hall from Triple-A Norfolk.

Hall was designated for assignment by the O's in early June and will merely serve as bench depth down the stretch. He is 2-for-9 (.222) this year in the big leagues.

Bill Hall could be added to the Orioles' roster.

The Orioles haven't made a move yet, but Hall is in the clubhouse Wednesday afternoon and could provide some depth with Lew Ford nursing a groin injury. The 32-year-old went 2-for-9 in seven games during a brief stint with the O's earlier this year. He would have to be added to the 40-man roster.

Hall cleared waivers and accepted the assignment. He has already had two very brief stints with the Orioles this season and figures to be back in Baltimore if the club suffers an injury or two.

Hall was recently called up to replace Nick Markakis (hamate bone surgery), but will be sent down after going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts Friday. The Orioles have acquired Steve Pearce from the Yankees in a related move and figure to add him to the active roster.

Hall was just designated for assignment a week ago but will now replace Nick Markakis on the roster. He had two hits -- including a homer -- in seven at-bats earlier this season with the O's.

The Orioles are expected to purchase Bill Hall's contract from Triple-A Norfolk Friday.

Hall's trip back to the minors was short, as he was just designated for assignment a week ago. It's not clear yet what the corresponding move will be. The O's will have to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, but they can do so easily by moving Brian Roberts (concussion) to the 60-day DL.
