Pinch-hitter Chad Tracy homered off Huston Street in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Nationals to a 6-5 win over the Padres on Friday.

Chad Tracy has been scratched from the next two Grapefruit League games due to a bruised triceps.

Tracy suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch Sunday. "If this was the regular season, I'd be back in there today," he said. "But no sense pushing it right now."

Chad Tracy told reporters Saturday that he's fully rehabbed from an offseason knee scope and midseason groin surgery.

Tracy is three months removed from an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee and expects to receive clearance for spring training. He signed a one-year, $1 million extension in August and should return as a useful pinch-hitter for the Nationals after batting .269/.343/.441 with three home runs, 14 RBI and a .784 OPS in 105 plate appearances.

Chad Tracy underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Thursday.

Tracy should be fine for spring training. The 32-year-old was a useful pinch-hitter in limited duty this season, batting .269/.343/.441 with three home runs, 14 RBI and a .784 OPS in 105 plate appearances. He signed a one-year extension with the Nationals in August.

Nationals signed 1B Chad Tracy to a one-year contract extension.

Terms aren't yet known, but Nationals manager Davey Johnson made the announcement prior to Friday's game. Tracy, 32, is hitting .283/.353/.517 with three home runs, 13 RBI and an .870 OPS in 68 plate appearances as a bench player this season.

Tracy will serve as the designated hitter and bat second. The veteran infielder has been sidelined since late May surgery to repair a right abductor muscle.

Tracy has been out since late May with a torn right abductor muscle that requires surgery. He was batting .265/.327/.510 with three homers over 55 plate appearances before the injury.

It's another tough bit of news for the Nationals, as Tracy could be done for the rest of the 2012 campaign. The 32-year-old was rocking a solid .837 OPS with three home runs and 12 RBI through 55 plate appearances.

Nationals placed INF Chad Tracy on the 15-day disabled list with a groin injury.

Tracy was hoping to remain active but couldn't get over the soreness in his groin and will likely be out for three weeks. He's batting .265/.327/.510 so far this year.

Tracy said he has a new groin injury, not broken-up scar tissue from a sports hernia he had last year. The Nationals are expected decide Monday whether to place him on the disabled list.

The Nationals are hopeful that Chad Tracy's groin injury is merely a breaking up of scar tissue.

Tracy will be re-evaluated on Sunday. The Nationals haven't decided whether to put him on the disabled list, but he'll be inactive for at least the next couple games.
