Cody Ross hit a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Diamondbacks defeated the Rockies 3-2 on Saturday night in Arizona.
Ross also had an RBI triple in the bottom of the first inning. He's 14-for-50 (.280) since returning from his calf strain and has tallied seven RBI in 14 games. Ross is a decent third outfielder in deep mixed leagues. Apr 27 - 11:52 PM

Diamondbacks activated OF Cody Ross from the 15-day disabled list.

Ross missed the first two weeks of the 2013 regular season because of a calf strain. His bat is a good fit at Chase Field and he makes for a fine third fantasy outfielder in mixed leagues now that he's healthy. The 32-year-old tallied 22 homers and 81 RBI in 130 games last season with Boston. Jason Kubel was placed on the disabled list in a corresponding roster move.
Apr 13 - 7:23 PM

Cody Ross (calf) might be activated on Saturday.

The Diamondbacks first need to determine if Jason Kubel (quad) needs a 15-day disabled list stint of his own. Ross has been sidelined since March by a calf strain.
Apr 13 - 5:30 PM

Cody Ross (calf) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Friday.

Ross began his rehab assignment last Thursday, but Monday will be his first game in the outfield. Assuming he gets through the next few days without any setbacks, he'll be back in the D'Backs lineup this weekend against the Dodgers.
Apr 8 - 10:53 PM

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said that the best-case scenario would have Cody Ross (calf) returning on April 8.

Ross will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Visalia when their season starts on Thursday, playing the outfield and also being used as a DH. If he gets through a few games with no issues, he should be in the lineup when the D'Backs return home next Monday. Gerardo Parra and A.J. Pollock will start for the first week with both Ross and Adam Eaton out.
Apr 1 - 8:12 PM

Diamondbacks placed Cody Ross on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a left calf injury.

Ross hasn't played since early March, but the Diamondbacks are backdating his DL stint by 10 days so it's possible he could only miss the first five games of the season. With Adam Eaton (elbow) also sidelined, Gerardo Parra and A.J. Pollock will open the season as starters.
Mar 31 - 4:45 PM

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson confirmed on Friday that Cody Ross (calf) will begin the season on the disabled list.

This isn't terribly surprising news, as the Diamondbacks have stated all along that they'll err on the side of caution as opposed to rushing Ross back into action. That means both Gerardo Parra and A.J. Pollock will open the season as starters in the D'Backs' outfield.
Mar 29 - 10:27 PM

Cody Ross (calf) is expected to open the season on the disabled list.

Ross says he's still aiming for Opening Day, but it sounds like the Diamondbacks want to err on the side of caution. With Adam Eaton (elbow) also sidelined, Gerardo Parra and A.J. Pollock are expected to open the season in starting roles. Ross suffered a lower left leg strain earlier this month in D'Backs camp.
Mar 24 - 4:30 PM

Cody Ross (calf) jogged lightly on a treadmill Tuesday and took batting practice.

Ross is finally beginning to make some progress but remains questionable for Opening Day. He suffered a lower left leg strain earlier this month in D'Backs camp.
Mar 19 - 4:23 PM

Cody Ross's left calf injury is progressing slower than the team had originally hoped.

"It's just been slow," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "He's done really no full weight-bearing stuff running-wise. He's not ready for it. I think he went in the pool yesterday. I think the next step will be the Ultra G [treadmill], which they can unload some of the weight when he runs." The team had hoped Ross would be able to begin full weight-bearing activities by Tuesday or Wednesday, but that isn't going to happen. His status for Opening Day is officially in doubt.
Mar 17 - 12:07 AM

The Diamondbacks hope Cody Ross (calf) can begin full weight-bearing activities, including running, by March 18 or 19.

If he's able to stay on that timetable, Ross should be ready to play on Opening Day. "It’s reasonable that it could be, yes," manager Kirk Gibson said. The D'Backs will roll with Gerardo Parra in Ross' place if the outfielder's rehab goes slower than expected.
Mar 8 - 8:41 AM

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Tuesday that Cody Ross will miss 2-3 weeks after an MRI revealed a lower left leg strain.

The injury originally cropped up Friday and caused Ross to make an early exit on Sunday. Now he'll get an extended period of rest to try to put it behind him. There's still enough time for him to get ready for the season, but he can't afford any setbacks. The Diamondbacks have Gerardo Parra as an alternative if he needs some extra time.
Mar 5 - 3:19 PM

Cody Ross is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday afternoon for his sore left calf.

Ross began experiencing the calf soreness on Friday in camp and it didn't improve much over the weekend. The Diamondbacks are now looking to rule out any structural damage. If it's just inflammation, Ross should be back in Cactus League games by the end of this week.
Mar 4 - 3:05 PM

Cody Ross (calf) went 0-for-1 with a strikeout in his return to the lineup Sunday against the Giants.

Ross was removed in the third inning and was clearly bothered by his calf injury. The Diamondbacks are saying that it's not anything serious, but Ross is doubtful to play in games anytime soon. A.J. Pollock will get an extended look until he ready to return.
Mar 3 - 4:43 PM

Cody Ross was scratched from Friday's lineup due to a sore left calf.

Ross says the ailment is no big deal and he expects to be back in there Sunday. He'll be the Diamondbacks' everyday right fielder in 2013.
