Manny Parra (neck) has been cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville.

Parra recently dealt with some tenderness in his pitching elbow, but it's apparently not a big deal. The southpaw has been sidelined for about three weeks with a strained neck. He appears on track to rejoin the Reds' bullpen by the end of the month.

Manny Parra (neck) has been dealing with tenderness in his pitching elbow, which has pushed back his return to the Reds bullpen.

Parra admitted, "I had a slight setback, but I'm trying to make progress. I'm good." Reds manager Bryan Price said he's close to pitching again, though he will need a few appearances on a minor league rehab assignment before he's cleared to return.

Reds placed LHP Manny Parra on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 24, with a strained neck.

Manny Parra tossed two-thirds of a scoreless frame Saturday in his return to action.

Parra hadn't appeared in a game since July 20 due to back stiffness, but he's expected to be fine. He's put up a 3.76 ERA while striking out 30 over 26 1/3 relief innings this season.

Manny Parra has been unavailable the last few days due to a stiff back.

"He has a little bit of back stiffness," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "It is not something I wanted to announce to our opposing team. His back has been acting up and he's been unavailable." Parra hasn't appeared in a game since July 20, but it appears that he'll avoid the DL.

Reds manager Bryan Price revealed Wednesday that Manny Parra went 12 days in between appearances because he'd been dealing with a "cranky" shoulder.

Parra last pitched on June 29 before retiring the only batter he faced on one pitch Tuesday. It appears the shoulder is no longer a concern. "His shoulder was cranky," Price said. "We worked through that, he could have pitched, but we felt if we didn’t pitch him, it gave him a better chance to continue without any flare-ups. By the end of that San Francisco series, he was feeling much better."

Manny Parra registered a two-inning save in the Reds' win over the Mets on Sunday.

Not your typical two-inning save, Parra was charged with holding a one-run lead against the top of the Mets' order. He answered by striking out two while not allowing a baserunner. He hasn't allowed a run in 4 2/3 innings this season and earned more work in high-leverage situations with his performance Sunday.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Reds have re-signed left-hander Manny Parra to a two-year, $5.5 million contract.

Parra was effective out of the Reds' bullpen this past season, posting a 3.33 ERA and 56/15 K/BB ratio over 46 innings. It looks like the 31-year-old has finally found his niche.

Reds activated LHP Manny Parra from the 15-day disabled list.

Parra had been out since late April with a pectoral injury. With Sean Marshall (shoulder) out, the Reds will likely have to use Parra in more critical situations than they'd like. He held an 8.10 ERA over 6 2/3 frames before landing on the DL.

Manny Parra (pectoral) struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Pensacola.

No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Manny Parra is currently shut down due to a sore neck.

It seems like a minor issue that should clear up in a day or two. Parra was signed earlier this month after posting a 5.06 ERA and 61/35 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings last season for the Brewers.

Reds signed LHP Manny Parra to a one-year, $1 million contract.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal passed along the contract terms and adds that he could earn an additional $400,000 in appearance bonuses. Parra was non-tendered by the Brewers in late November after posting a 5.06 ERA and 61/35 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings last season, but he has good stuff and could still turn into a useful reliever.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post hears that the Mets have inquired about free agent left-hander Manny Parra.

Parra was recently non-tendered by the Brewers after posting a 5.06 ERA and 61/35 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings this past season. But the 30-year-old southpaw shouldn't have any trouble attracting interest on the free agent market.
