Manny Parra (pectoral) struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Pensacola.
No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April. May 14 - 10:33 AM

Date:

Reds placed LHP Manny Parra on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 24, with a strained left pectoral muscle.

The severity of the injury isn't yet clear. Parra, 30, has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings this season. Sean Marshall has been activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Manny Parra is currently shut down due to a sore neck.

It seems like a minor issue that should clear up in a day or two. Parra was signed earlier this month after posting a 5.06 ERA and 61/35 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings last season for the Brewers.

Reds signed LHP Manny Parra to a one-year, $1 million contract.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal passed along the contract terms and adds that he could earn an additional $400,000 in appearance bonuses. Parra was non-tendered by the Brewers in late November after posting a 5.06 ERA and 61/35 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings last season, but he has good stuff and could still turn into a useful reliever.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post hears that the Mets have inquired about free agent left-hander Manny Parra.

Parra was recently non-tendered by the Brewers after posting a 5.06 ERA and 61/35 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings this past season. But the 30-year-old southpaw shouldn't have any trouble attracting interest on the free agent market.

The Brewers will not tender Manny Parra a contract.

Parra struck out 61 over 58 2/3 innings in 2012, but he also posted a 5.06 ERA, is due a raise from this past season's $1.2 salary and will always be a heath risk. That said, he's a lefty with pretty good stuff, so he won't have trouble landing on his feet somewhere.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writes that left-hander Manny Parra is the Brewers' top candidate to be non-tendered by Friday's deadline.

That means John Axford, Marco Estrada, Chris Narveson and Carlos Gomez will all likely be tendered contracts. Parra earned $1.2 million in 2012 while posting a 5.06 ERA and 61/35 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings. The southpaw is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter. The Brewers will likely try to trade him before Friday's deadline.

Manny Parra threw a scoreless inning in his return to the mound Saturday.

Parra had been battling shoulder soreness for a couple weeks. It appears that the ailment is in the rear view mirror.

After throwing a successful side session the other day, Manny Parra said that he is available if needed by the Brewers on Friday.

The veteran right-hander hasn't pitched since July 24 due to an impingement in his left shoulder. He'll return to his familiar middle relief role with a 4.70 ERA and 51/23 K/BB ratio over 44 innings of work.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Friday that Manny Parra (shoulder) will likely be unavailable this weekend.

Parra hasn't pitched since last Tuesday due to a left shoulder impingement. He had his shoulder examined Thursday and is scheduled to be re-evaluated Monday. While he's feeling better every day, it's still possible he could wind up on the disabled list.

Manny Parra (shoulder) is not expected to need a stint on the disabled list after being examined by team physician William Raasch Wednesday.

Parra has already sat out a week and won't pitch until at least next Monday, but evidently the Brewers think that will likely be enough rest. "It's way better but he still has a little bit of irritation there," said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke. "They talked about kind of checking things out again on Monday."

Manny Parra will have his ailing left shoulder examined by a team doctor.

Parra hasn't pitched since last Tuesday due to shoulder irritation. If the doctor's report isn't favorable, he could be headed for the disabled list.

Manny Parra is currently sidelined due with left shoulder irritation.

Parra gave up four runs on one hit (a home run) and three walks over just one-third of an inning in his last appearance on July 24. It's not clear if he'll be placed on the disabled list.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke indicated that Manny Parra is likely to take Marco Estrada's (quad) spot in the rotation.

"Maybe we'll try to piggyback somebody with (Parra)," Roenicke said. "We'll make sure we've got somebody behind Manny that can give us some length." Parra's last major-league start came on August 22, 2010, but he's made 74 starts in his career and has pitched at least two innings in eight of 19 appearances this season.

Manny Parra's exceptional spring came to a grinding halt on Wednesday, as he failed to retire all six batters faced in a 14-3 loss to Arizona.

Five of those 14 runs were charged to the left-hander, who surrendered four hits and two walks. Parra was boasting a 1.86 ERA entering the game. He will try to get back on track as the regular season begins.
