Reds manager Bryan Price revealed Wednesday that Manny Parra went 12 days in between appearances because he'd been dealing with a "cranky" shoulder.

Parra last pitched on June 29 before retiring the only batter he faced on one pitch Tuesday. It appears the shoulder is no longer a concern. "His shoulder was cranky," Price said. "We worked through that, he could have pitched, but we felt if we didn’t pitch him, it gave him a better chance to continue without any flare-ups. By the end of that San Francisco series, he was feeling much better."
