Paulino was a couple days late while getting a visa issue resolved. He's likely to begin the 2013 season as catching depth at Triple-A.

Ronny Paulino is not expected to report to Mariners' camp for a few more days due to visa issues in his native Dominican Republic.

Paulino signed a minor league deal with the Mariners over the winter after batting .254/.266/.302 in 20 games with the Orioles last year. He's unlikely to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster, as the M's already have Kelly Shoppach in place as a backup to Jesus Montero.

Ronny Paulino and Jhonny Nunez haven't reported to Mariners' camp due to visa problems.

It's not clear when either player will report to camp. Paulino, a non-roster invitee, is unlikely to make the Mariners' Opening Day roster unless there's an injury. Nunez hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2009 and is likely ticketed for Triple-A Tacoma.

Mariners signed C Ronny Paulino to a minor league contract.

He's been given an invitation to spring training and should have a good shot at landing the backup job behind Jesus Montero. Paulino batted .254/.266/.302 with no homers over 20 games in 2012 with the Orioles and sports a .272/.324/.376 career batting line.

Paulino suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his foot on Sunday. He'll attempt to play through the pain for now.

He'll take Luis Exposito's spot as Matt Wieters' backup. Paulino was sent down earlier this month despite hitting .300 over 30 at-bats with the O's. He returns after batting .283/.313/.391 at Norfolk.

He was cleared to make room for right-hander Stu Pomeranz on the active roster. Paulino is hitting .300 (9-for-30) with a double and three RBI in nine games with the O's this season. Luis Exposito will serve as Matt Wieters' backup for now.

Ronny Paulino will serve as the Orioles' designated hitter Wednesday night against the Yankees.

A minor surprise, but Orioles' manager Buck Showalter apparently wants to get his bat into the lineup against CC Sabathia. Paulino, who went 4-for-4 in his first start on Saturday, has an .868 career OPS against left-handed pitching.

Paulino has been stuck in his native Dominican Republic while dealing with visa issues. He likely would have entered camp as the favorite to back up Matt Wieters had he arrived on time, but Taylor Teagarden might have slid ahead of him. He should at least have plenty of time to get ready for the season.

Orioles signed C Ronny Paulino to a minor league contract.

He also gets a spring training invite. Paulino was non-tendered by the Mets in December after batting .261/.312/.351 with two home runs and 19 RBI over 248 plate appearances last season. He'll provide some competition for Taylor Teagarden for O's the backup catcher job.
