Pirates released RHP Seth McClung.

The 33-year-old was attempting to return to Major League Baseball for the first time since the 2009 season. He appeared in just one Grapefruit League game, working a scoreless inning and striking out all three hitters he faced. McClung spent 2013 pitching in Mexico and Taiwan, and could generate interest from other team's looking for bullpen depth.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that free agent right-hander Seth McClung has thrown for teams recently.

McClung had an ugly 6.35 ERA and 96/70 K/BB ratio over 119 innings in Triple-A last season between the Brewers and Cubs. The 32-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009, so he will likely function as organizational depth wherever he lands.

Cubs signed RHP Seth McClung to a minor league contract.

McClung was released by the Brewers last month after holding a 6.36 ERA and 80/60 K/BB ratio in 103 1/3 innings for Triple-A Nashville. He'll slide into Triple-A Iowa's rotation after Casey Coleman suffered a shoulder injury.

McClung, who last appeared in the majors in 2009, had an ugly 6.36 ERA and 80/60 K/BB ratio in 103 1/3 innings this season with Triple-A Nashville. The 31-year-old right-hander will attempt to latch on elsewhere.

The 30-year-old right-hander was at his best in his previous stint with the Brewers, posting a 4.32 ERA as a starter and reliever from 2007-2009.

Rangers signed RHP Seth McClung to a split contract.

He'll get $700,000 if he makes the roster and another possible $700,000 in incentives based on number of starts. McClung failed to make the Marlins roster in spring training this past season and then spent the rest of the year coaching a prep girls basketball team in his native Tampa. He most recently posted a 4.94 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 40/39 K/BB ratio over 62 innings for the Brewers in 2009. He'll be given a shot to compete for a rotation spot, but he'll be lucky to stick on the major league roster as a swing man.

Marlins signed RHP Seth McClung to a minor league contract.

The deal also comes with an invitation to spring training, where McClung will try to earn a spot in the Marlins' bullpen as a long releiver and mop-up man. The 28-year-old had a 4.94 ERA, a 40/39 K/BB ratio and a 1.63 WHIP in 62 innings (two starts) for the Brewers last season.

According to's Adam McCalvy, free agent right-hander Seth McClung is close to inking a minor league deal with the Marlins.

McClung posted a lousy 4.94 ERA and an even uglier 1.63 WHIP in 62 innings (two starts) last season for the Brewers. He'll likely serve in a long relief role for the Fish and may even collect some emergency spot starts, but he should not register on many fantasy radars for drafts this spring.

Brewers non-tendered RHP Seth McClung.

An easy call, as McClung made $1.66 million while amassing a 4.94 ERA in 62 innings last season. The Brewers have decided to keep both Dave Bush and Jody Gerut, so they might be nearly done shopping for the winter. They could have freed up another $6 million by letting them go.

Seth McClung told fans on his Twitter account that he will be non-tendered a contract.

McClung thanked a bevy of people, including the Milwaukee fans and noted that "it was not my choice to leave." The right-hander had a great start to the 2009 season of the bullpen but things fell apart when he joined the rotation. He'll attempt to find a big-league job, but the 28-year old may be forced to settle for a minor league deal.

Seth McClung is frustrated with his recent inactivity and hinted he may not be a Brewer after the year.

McClung had a fantastic start to the season out of the bullpen, but his numbers took a turn for the worse when he was placed in the rotation midseason. Although he's returned to the bullpen since, he hasn't pitched in the last nine days. He put on his Twitter account that "the writing is on the wall." Arbitration-eligible, McClung would likely find some interest in his services should the Brewers opt to drop the right-hander. The 28-year old is making $1.7 million on the year, far too much for a middle reliever low on the totem pole.
