Marlins purchased the contract of LHP Erasmo Ramirez from Triple-A Albuquerque

He gets the nod over Nate Field. Ramirez, who was cut by the A's two weeks ago, had given up three runs in 4 1/3 innings since joining Albuquerque. He'll pitch in middle relief.

Athletics designated LHP Erasmo Ramirez for assignment.

Ramirez loses his spot despite pitching scoreless innings in each of his three appearances with the A's. There are plenty of worse 11th and 12th pitchers around, and some team (the Cardinals?) should claim him off waivers.

Athletics purchased the contract of LHP Erasmo Ramirez from Triple-A Sacramento.

Ramirez has had a lot of trouble sticking in the majors despite the fact that he's left-handed and has a a 4.01 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP in 107 2/3 innings in his career. Part of the problem is that he's no better against lefties than versus righties. He could prove to be a pretty good middle reliever for the A's if used properly.

Athletics signed LHP Erasmo Ramirez to a minor league contract.

Ramirez had some success for the Rangers prior to last season, but he spent all of 2006 in Triple-A and finished with a 3.59 ERA in 67 2/3 innings for Sacramento. If he had a platoon split, he likely would have been an established major leaguer years ago. Since he's equally average against lefties and righties, he's more of a fringe guy. It's a good pickup for the A's, but they're one of the few teams he probably can't help as a 12th reliever.

Rangers sent LHP Erasmo Ramirez outright to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Maybe the Rangers planted the story about their being trade interest in Ramirez, because if anyone wanted him, they would have claimed him off waivers. The Rangers should consider themselves fortunate to have kept him. They'll need him in middle relief before the year is over.

The Rangers have had some trade interest in Erasmo Ramirez, who was designated for assignment on Saturday.

Since there doesn't seem to be any chance that he'll clear waivers, a deal is likely to take place this week.

Rangers designated LHP Erasmo Ramirez for assignment.

Rule 5 pick Fabio Castro makes the team, as does right-hander Scott Feldman. Ramirez is a solid 11th or 12th pitcher who was underappreciated by the Rangers because he's no better against lefties than righties. He'll have to go right on to the major league roster if claimed, but some team should pick him up anyway.

Ramirez has a 5.40 ERA in seven appearances with the Rangers this season.

Rangers optioned LHP Erasmo Ramirez to Triple-A Oklahoma.

We'd trust Ramirez in a close game over Steve Karsay or Kevin Gryboski, but it doesn't matter. The Rangers are done.

Rangers recalled LHP Erasmo Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Ramirez, who spent 10 days in the majors last month, deserved to be in the Texas bullpen all along. He'll be used in middle relief.

Rangers optioned LHP Erasmo Ramirez to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Francisco Cordero excepted, Ramirez is about as good as any other member of the Texas pen. He should have gotten a chance to stick around.

Rangers recalled LHP Erasmo Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Ramirez, who spent the first three months of the season on the DL, replaces Juan Dominguez in the Texas pen. He's been better against righties than lefties in his career, so the Rangers should be able to find work for him even though they already have Brian Shouse and Ron Mahay as lefty relievers.

Rangers activated LHP Erasmo Ramirez from the 15-day DL and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Ramirez had been out since the start of the season with a strained finger tendon. He might return to the majors before the end of July.
