Brewers acquired infielder Ray Olmedo from the Rangers in exchange for catcher Matt Treanor.

Olmedo has bounced around a ton over the years and is little more than a potential utility man at age 29. The swap is likely for minor league depth purposes only.

Phillies claimed infielder Ray Olmedo of waivers from the Pirates.

Olmedo gives the Phillies a better defensive shortstop than Eric Bruntlett to fill in if Jimmy Rollins gets hurt, but he shouldn't have a role otherwise. He's not going to make the team out of spring training.

Pirates designated infielder Ray Olmedo for assignment.

The move makes room for Byung-Hyun Kim on the roster. Olmedo had just been claimed off waivers from the Jays on Feb. 1. A team looking for a defensive-minded utilityman might pick him up.

Pirates claimed infielder Ray Olmedo of waivers from the Blue Jays.

Olmedo will battle Josh Wilson for one bench spot. He has the better glove of the two, but since the Pirates are already going with a defense-first shortstop, it'd make more sense to carry Wilson.

Blue Jays designated infielder Ray Olmedo for assignment.

The Jays had no use at all for Olmedo after trading for Marco Scutaro and signing David Eckstein. Olmedo still could make it as a defensive-minded backup somewhere, but that's seem to be the best-case scenario at this point.

Ray Olmedo went 3-for-4 with a double and two walks Sunday for Magarita of the VWL.

Olmedo has been reunited with fellow failed Reds prospect William Bergolla as the double-play combination on the Bravos. He's hitting a solid .316/.352/.395 in 114 at-bats to date. Still, the Jays' acquisition of Marco Scutaro means it'd been a bad month for him. He might find himself in another organization next spring.

Ray Olmedo has left the Jays and gone back to Syracuse to be with his pregnant wife, who is about to give birth.

He'll likely be back in a few days whenever the bundle of joy makes its appearance.
