Edgar Gonzalez pitched decently in his victory over the Brewers on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Gonzalez struck out three without walking a hitter on the night. Carlos Gomez tagged him for a solo homer in the third inning, and Ryan Braun added a two-run double in the sixth. The 29-year-old right-hander has done a fairly nice job for the Astros, posting a 3-1 record, 4.15 ERA and 17/4 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings.

Edgar Gonzalez has been removed from Friday's start against the Pirates due to a strained right hamstring.

He allowed just one hit and a walk in his 1 2/3 innings of work before being replaced by Fernando Martinez. If he is able to take his next turn through the rotation, he would do battle against the Cardinals at home on Wednesday.

Edgar Gonzalez was hammered in a losing effort against the Phillies on Friday, allowing five runs on six hits over his four innings of work.

Gonzalez punched out two and issued one free pass on the night. Most of the damage came early, with Jimmy Rollins blasting a solo homer as part of a four-run opening inning. Through three starts, he owns a 2-1 record, 4.40 ERA and 13/3 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings. He'll attempt to get back in the win column when he takes on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Thursday.
