Nationals recalled RHP Ryan Wagner from Triple-A Columbus.

Wagner, the one-time Reds' closer of the future, had a 5.68 ERA in 19 innings for Columbus after making his return from shoulder surgery. He'll be pitching for his spot on the 40-man roster.

Nationals activated RHP Ryan Wagner from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus.

Wagner has allowed seven earned runs and walked 12 in 14 1/3 innings in the minors since returning from shoulder surgery. He'll probably join the Nationals in September.

Ryan Wagner (shoulder surgery) threw a pain-free bullpen session Saturday.

Wagner is scheduled to pitch a simulated game Monday. There's no timetable yet on his return.

Nationals transferred RHP Ryan Wagner from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list.

Wagner is trying to come back from shoulder surgery, and he's already been on the disabled list for 60 days, so the move is little more than a way to clear up a spot on the 40-man roster.

Nationals placed RHP Ryan Wagner on the 15-day disabled list following right shoulder surgery.

Wagner hasn't progressed as much as hoped in the last month and wasn't able to pitch in any games this spring. He's not going to be guaranteed a bullpen spot when he's ready to return in May or June.

Ryan Wagner threw live batting practice Monday for the first time this spring and didn't have any problems.

Wagner, coming back from rotator cuff surgery, is scheduled to start the season on the DL. He might be a candidate for Washington's pen by early May.

Nationals agreed to terms with RHP Ryan Wagner on a one-year contract.

It's probably a split contract, but Wagner keeps his place on the 40-man roster despite missing undergoing labrum surgery in June. He'll compete for a bullpen spot in spring training.

Nationals transferred RHP Ryan Wagner from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

Wagner is out for the season after surgery this month to repair a torn labrum.

Ryan Wagner is out for the season following surgery Tuesday on a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.

It was supposed to be the rotator cuff giving his problems, which just further illustrates how tricky shoulders can be. Wagner might be ready to pitch next spring, but no one should be counting on him to make much of an impact in 2008.

Ryan Wagner will have arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday.

Dr. James Andrews will performed. Even if there's no extensive damage found, Wagner might miss the rest of the season.

Ryan Wagner will visit Dr. James Andrews to have his sore rotator cuff examined.

"I'm still not feeling good at all," Wagner said. Added GM Jim Bowden, "I think the fact that he hasn't made any progress is probably not a good sign." Wagner remains out indefinitely.

Nationals placed RHP Ryan Wagner on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 7, with right rotator cuff inflammation.

The Nationals have talked Wagner up quite a bit since acquiring him, but he hasn't been very effective at any point. He has a 5.74 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP in 15 2/3 innings this season.

Manager Frank Robinson was not happy with Ryan Wagner's fielding Thursday.

Wagner was slow to cover first in an inning that ultimately sealed the Nats' doom in a 10-5 loss. Robinson said covering first on a play like that should be a reaction "almost like when a plate of food is put in front of you, you go for the fork." It's looking more and more like fantasy owners can stick a fork in their dreams that Ryan Wagner will one day develop into the top closer he was predicted to become.

Nationals recalled RHP Ryan Wagner from Triple-A New Orleans.

He takes Michael O'Connor's roster spot. The Nationals will use Wagner in middle relief until they next need a fifth starter. He shouldn't have any fantasy value.
