Chad Gaudin said he's alright after feeling "a little tweak" in his upper right arm Saturday.

Gaudin was removed from his Saturday start in the third inning due to the injury, but it appears to be a false alarm. The right-hander has been given a window of opportunity to win a starting job with the Dodgers with Hyun-Jin Ryu set to begin the season on the disabled list. He's likely to take his next turn.

Chad Gaudin left his Cactus League start Sunday with an undisclosed injury.

Gaudin had dealt for two innings before getting hit hard in the third. Ultimately, catcher A.J. Ellis came out and called for the trainer. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly opted to remove Gaudin, and the Dodgers should provide an update on his injury shortly.

Dodgers signed RHP Chad Gaudin to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Gaudin, who turns 32 next month, didn't pitch in 2014 due to a neck injury. However, he had a 3.06 ERA with 88 strikeouts over 97 innings with the Giants in 2013, so the Dodgers are willing to take a chance on him.

Chad Gaudin threw a bullpen session for the Diamondbacks last week.

General manager Dave Stewart said that the club is considering signing the veteran righty. Gaudin, who didn't pitch in 2014 due to a neck injury, would only require a minor league deal and could serve in a swingman role. He held a 3.06 ERA with 88 strikeouts across 97 innings in such a role for the Giants in 2013.

Phillies released RHP Chad Gaudin.

Gaudin signed a minor league contract with the Phillies in late January, but he failed his physical this week in camp and is now back on the open market. The 30-year-old right-hander posted a cool 3.06 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 97 innings last season for the Giants and should land another opportunity soon. Unless, of course, there's something seriously wrong with his throwing arm.

Gaudin signed a minor league deal with the Phillies on Tuesday. The 30-year-old had a surprisingly 3.06 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 97 innings with the Giants last season and should have a legitimate chance to make the Opening Day roster as a swingman.

Gaudin is surely looking for a place to start, but Drellich speculates that he could fit as a second experienced reliever along with Chad Qualls. The 30-year-old posted a 3.06 ERA and 88/40 K/BB ratio in 97 innings with the Giants this past season as a starter and reliever.

Gaudin pitched surprisingly well for the Giants in 2013, posting a 3.06 ERA with nearly a strikeout per inning across 30 appearances (12 starts). The veteran righty should get a guaranteed deal somewhere but might have to go back to the bullpen.

The veteran right-hander had hoped to rejoin the Giants bullpen for the final week of the regular season to prove his health before heading into free agency, but has yet to gain clearance to return and is quickly running out of time to do so.
