Mike Gonzalez's new contract with the Brewers includes incentives based on games finished.

Gonzalez finalized a one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Brewers on Monday. The 34-year-old southpaw would earn an additional $50,000 for 25 games finished, $75,000 each for 30 and 35 games finished and $100,000 apiece for 40 and 50 games finished. He's set to serve as a set-up man, but the incentives are there in case he replaces John Axford at closer.

Gonzalez can earn more through incentives. He'll join fellow former Nationals reliever Tom Gorzelanny in the Brew Crew's bullpen as the club's two southpaw. Gonzalez posted a 3.03 ERA and 39/16 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings with the Nats in 2012.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Brewers have signed Mike Gonzalez.

ESPN's Jim Bowden says the deal is worth $2.25 million, plus incentives. The Brewers have now remade their left-handed relief corps, bringing in former Nationals relievers Gonzalez and Tom Gorzelanny. Gonzalez posted a 3.03 ERA and 39/16 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings with the Nats in 2012.

Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM reports that the Nationals and Reds continue to pursue free agent left-hander Mike Gonzalez.

We heard back in November that about 10 teams were interested in Gonzalez, but it appears the field has narrowed to two potential contenders. The 34-year-old southpaw posted a 3.03 ERA and 39/16 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings with the Nats in 2012.

Mike Gonzalez told the Washington Post that "about 10 teams" have shown interest in him this offseason.

Gonzalez, a left-handed specialist, posted a 3.03 ERA in 47 appearances this season and is reportedly seeking a multi-year contract. The 34-year-old free agent reliever hasn't ruled out returning to the Nationals.

Mike Gonzalez was ejected from Thursday's game against the Cubs in the sixth inning for his involvement in a benches-clearing incident.

Both benches cleared after Cubs' right-hander Lendy Castillo threw inside on Bryce Harper. It's not clear what Gonzalez did to get the boot, as cameras didn't show him throwing a punch, but he was yelling across the scrum at a few members of the Cubs.

Nationals purchased the contract of LHP Mike Gonzalez from Triple-A Syracuse.

Gonzalez was signed to a minor league deal earlier this month and made his first appearance for Syracuse Friday, striking out two over 1 1/3 perfect innings. He's taking the roster spot of Ryan Perry.

Gonzalez will report to the Nats' spring training complex in Viera, Florida this week to get properly tuned up. He held left-handed batters to a .214/.264/.311 slash line last season and could be a useful piece in the Washington bullpen at some point this summer.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Rays "could be a possible fit" for free agent left-hander Mike Gonzalez.

The Rays already have a couple pretty good southpaws in the bullpen in J.P. Howell and Jake McGee, but Gonzalez, who held left-handed batters to a .214/.264/.311 batting line last year, would give them another option. Gonzalez is close to being fully recovered from offseason knee surgery and is expected to sign with someone soon.

Michael Gonzalez's agent, Scott Boras, said Monday that his client should sign with a team within 10 days.

Boras said Gonzalez is close to being fully recovered from offseason knee surgery and is ready to throw bullpen sessions for interested teams. The 33-year-old left-hander turned down a minor league deal from the Rangers in the early part of spring training and auditioned for the Reds in late March. He posted a 4.39 ERA and 51/21 K/BB ratio over 53 1/3 innings between the Orioles and Rangers last year.

Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports that Mike Gonzalez auditioned for the Reds on Monday.

Sean Marshall is expected to replace Ryan Madson (elbow) as the Reds' closer while Aroldis Chapman is being considered for the starting rotation and Bill Bray is just returning from a groin injury, so the Reds could be in some need of lefty relief help. Gonzalez, 33, turned down a minor league offer from the Rangers earlier this month and has reportedly drawn some level of interest from the Red Sox, Indians and White Sox in recent weeks.

Gonzalez turned down a minor league offer from the Rangers earlier this month and has reportedly drawn interest from the Indians and White Sox in recent weeks. The 33-year-old southpaw posted a mediocre 4.39 ERA and 51/21 K/BB ratio over 53 1/3 innings last season between the Orioles and Rangers, but he's still effective against left-handed batters. As of now, Franklin Morales figures to serve as Boston's primary left-hander out of the bullpen.

The Indians are interested in signing free agent reliever Mike Gonzalez, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun.

Because of the time Gonzalez spent as an Oriole, Connolly seems like a reliable source on this matter. T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reported earlier this month that Gonzalez turned down a non-guaranteed minor league contract offer from the Rangers, so he is almost assuredly demanding a major league deal. The 33-year-old posted a mediocre 4.39 ERA last season between Baltimore and Texas, but he held left-handed batters to a .214/.264/.311 batting line. We'd be surprised if he wasn't on a roster on Opening Day.

T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that Mike Gonzalez turned down a non-guaranteed minor league contract offer from the Rangers last week.

The offer would have included a invite to spring training, and Gonzalez would have had a good chance to make the club, but evidently he's holding out for a guaranteed deal. It appears the door is now closed on him returning to the Rangers, as Sullivan says the Rangers expect Gonzalez to sign with another club soon. The 33-year-old posted a mediocre 4.39 ERA last season between Baltimore and Texas, but he held left-handed batters to a .214/.264/.311 batting line.
