Rangers sent RHP Mike Wood, C Chris Stewart and OF Kevin Mahar outright to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Wood has elected to become a free agent and should sign a minor league contract with another organization.

Rangers recalled RHP Mike Wood from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Wood steps into the rotation spot created by Kameron's Loe trip to the disabled list. He'll start in Loe's place Saturday, but is not a good fantasy option.

Rangers optioned RHP Mike Wood to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Wood had a successful start Tuesday against the A's, but the Rangers still needed his roster spot for John Koronka. He'll likely get another chance in two or three weeks.

Mike Wood, recalled Monday from Triple-A, baffled the A's with five shutout innings on Tuesday as Texas whipped Oakland 4-0.

Now 1-1 with an ERA of 5.40, Wood gave up five hits and five walks (one intentional), but did not allow the A's to dent the scoreboard. He struck out three and, after this showing, may make the Rangers think about things before they send him back down.

Rangers recalled RHP Mike Wood from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Wood will get a start Tuesday against the A's and then likely return to Triple-A prior to Wednesday's game.

The Rangers will call up Mike Wood from Triple-A Oklahoma on Tuesday to start against Oakland, manager Ron Washington said.

Wood suffered his first loss in Triple-A this season Thursday at Omaha despite allowing only three runs on four hits in 7 1/3 innings. He is 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA in six starts there. He is 0-1 with a 7.02 ERA in three starts with Texas.

Rangers optioned RHP Mike Wood to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Wood has a 7.02 ERA in four starts for the Rangers this year. The club will probably call on someone else next time it needs a replacement for the rotation.

Mike Wood did fine work in his spot start Thursday, allowing three runs -- two earned -- in 6 1/3 innings against the Yankees.

Ian Kinsler's two misplays helped the Yankees score an unearned run in the second. Wood's performance today makes him a candidate to take over as the Rangers' fifth starter if Brandon McCarthy struggles again Friday. He's not someone to consider in AL-only leagues.

Rangers recalled RHP Mike Wood from Triple-A Oklahoma.

The Rangers might need a long guy with the Yankees in town, and Wood is very capable of providing innings. His stay could be a short one.

Rangers optioned RHP Mike Wood to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Kameron Loe and Bruce Chen keep their bullpen spots. Wood had allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings.

Rangers signed RHP Mike Wood to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Wood couldn't land a major league deal after being non-tendered by the Rangers earlier this month. Texas originally claimed him off waivers from the Royals in October. He'll compete for a job in middle relief.

Rangers non-tendered RHP Mike Wood.

The Rangers knew Wood was a super-two player when they claimed him off waivers from the Royals in October. Still, they weren't willing to go to arbitration him. Wood might want to take his chances in a more pitcher friendly ballpark anyway.

Rangers claimed RHP Mike Wood off waivers from the Royals.

The Rangers will take a look and see if Wood can become the next Rick Bauer. The 26-year-old had a 5.71 ERA over 64 2/3 innings for the Royals this year. He missed July and August because of a back injury. He was better in 2005, finishing with a 4.46 ERA in 115 innings. While there's little upside here, there are worse 12th pitchers.

Mike Wood returned to the Royals Friday.

He missed the entire four-game series against the Twins to be with his ailing infant son.
