Dodgers signed INF Aaron Miles to a minor league contract.

Miles is already at the team's complex in Arizona, presumably to participate in extended spring training. He will likely soon head to Triple-A Albuquerque in the hopes of eventually joining the major league roster. The 35-year-old infielder batted .275/.314/.346 in 490 plate appearances last season for the Dodgers.

Aaron Miles' agent told MLBTradeRumors.com Thursday that his client is still hoping to play this year.

Miles failed to attract interest on the free agent market this winter and spring after batting just .275/.314/.346 in 490 plate appearances last season for the Dodgers. The 35-year-old middle infielder isn't much of a defender either and could struggle to find a minor league deal.

Aaron Miles went 2-for-6 and hit a go-ahead homer in the top of the 12th against the Rockies on Saturday.

The homer was just Miles' second of the year. Unfortunately, it didn't count for a whole lot in the end, as the Dodgers blew a two-run lead in the bottom of the 12th and lost in 13. Miles had been hitting just .224/.263/.290 during the second half.

Aaron Miles went 0-for-5 and struck out three times Friday against the Astros.

Miles had a great run in the first half, but it's come crashing down in a big way lately. Not only has he hit just .207 since the All-Star break, but with just two walks in 87 at-bats, his OBP sits at .222. He'll likely play more often than not with Juan Uribe and Dee Gordon set to miss the next two weeks, but he's a major liability right now.

Aaron Miles went 2-for-5 with his 30th RBI in Los Angeles' loss to the Phillies on Monday.

Miles is now up to 92 hits through his first 94 games this season, and batting .297/.316/.361. He's still not worth a look outside of deeper NL-only leagues, but that has to be far more production than the Dodgers were expecting when they signed him to a minor-league deal in February.

Aaron Miles returned to action Thursday, finishing 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Miles cued the Dodgers' victory with a sacrifice fly in the second inning, followed by an RBI double in the sixth. Hitting .320, he is enjoying a career year thus far.

An X-ray on Aaron Miles' right elbow came back negative.

The diminutive infielder said he could be available to play Wednesday. Miles has provided surprising production this season and is batting .438 (32-for-73) over his last 24 games.

Aaron Miles left Tuesday's game against the Mets with a bruised right elbow after being hit by a pitch by Mike Pelfrey in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Miles was taken for precautionary X-rays, though the results won't be known until Wednesday. It's unfortunate timing for the veteran infielder, who is hitting .438 (32-for-73) over his last 24 games.

Aaron Miles went 4-for-4 with a stolen base Friday against the Angels.

Miles has the ugliest .324 average one will ever see -- he has all of four walks and eight extra-base hits in 216 at-bats -- but it's pretty much impossible to hit .324 and not be pretty useful, especially if one is playing a decent second base in the process. With Jamey Carroll also performing well, the Dodgers are going to need to put Juan Uribe on the bench after Rafael Furcal returns.

Aaron Miles went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the Rockies on Saturday.

Miles has been red hot of late, going 13-for-22 with seven RBI in his last six games. He's never going to walk or hit for power, so that's as good as it can get for him. Expect the Dodgers to keep running him out there regularly until he cools off.

Aaron Miles (rib) is back in the Dodgers' starting lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.

Miles has been sidelined since last Wednesday with a sore left rib-cage muscle. He'll play second base Monday and bat second against right-hander Bud Norris.

Aaron Miles (rib) is out of the starting lineup for the third straight day Saturday.

It isn't believed to be a serious injury, but the Dodgers will give him another day. Juan Castro gets the start at second base Saturday while Russell Mitchell plays third.

Aaron Miles missed his second straight game Friday with a sore rib cage.

Though he didn't make an appearance, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Miles was available to pinch-hit. They may need him Saturday if Juan Uribe's hip injury keeps him out of the lineup.

Aaron Miles finished 3-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Miles now has 13 hits in his last eight games and seems to be the only Dodgers hitter who isn't slumping. He's quickly bumped his batting average to .292 and should continue seeing a good amount of playing time until the hotness wears off. "Now I feel good and when I hit the ball it's not going at people," he said Sunday. "My timing feels good and I'm seeing the ball good."
