Phillies signed RHP Chris Bootcheck to a minor league contract.

Yankees re-signed RHP Chris Bootcheck to a minor league contract.

Bootcheck was designated for assignment Tuesday, but elected free agency and re-signed with the Yankees rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Chris Cotillo of MLB Trade Rumors reports that Bootcheck can opt out of the deal if he isn't in the major leagues by August 15.

Yankees designated RHP Chris Bootcheck for assignment.

Bootcheck was added to the Yankees' bullpen over the weekend allowed one run on two hits and two walks over one inning during his lone appearance. There's a chance he'll pass through waivers unclaimed.

Yankees purchased the contract of RHP Chris Bootcheck from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Bootcheck had been working as a starter at Triple-A, posting a 5-2 record, 3.32 ERA and 50/19 K/BB ratio over 62 1/3 innings. He's likely to serve as the long-relief option for the Yankees with Adam Warren demoted.

Yankees signed RHP Chris Bootcheck to a minor league contract.

The deal does not carry an invitation to major league camp, so Bootcheck will not be in the running for an Opening Day roster spot. He posted an underwhelming 4.06 ERA in 44 1/3 innings last year for the Tigers' Triple-A team.

Tigers signed RHP Chris Bootcheck to a minor league contract.

Bootcheck held a 3.57 ERA over 16 games -- seven starts -- at Triple-A Durham in the Rays organization in 2011 before finishing the year off in Korea. The Tigers will give him a shot to win a bullpen role, but his 6.54 ERA in 147 1/3 career major league innings suggests that his likely destination to start the year is Triple-A Toledo.

Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker reports that Chris Bootcheck is expected to sign with a Korean team.

Bootcheck opted out of his minor league deal with the Rays last week after posting a 3.57 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 58 innings for Triple-A Durham. The 32-year-old will likely be given a substantial raise in Korea before presumably trying to return to the majors at some point.

Rays released RHP Chris Bootcheck.

Bootcheck used the opt-out in his contract and will seek out a better situation. The former first-round pick has posted a quality 3.57 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 58 innings this season at the Triple-A level, but wasn't going to be given a major league roster spot in Tampa Bay. He may get a chance to start somewhere.

Chris Bootcheck is expected to use his July 1 clause to opt out of his minor league contract with the Rays.

Bootcheck has been starting lately for Triple-A Durham, posting a 3.57 ERA and 48/19 K/BB ratio over 58 innings. A six-year MLB veteran, he hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2009 when he appeared in 13 games for the Pirates.

Rays reassigned RHP Chris Bootcheck, RHP Mike Ekstrom and LHP R.J. Swindle to minor league camp.

The Rays are beginning to round out their Opening Day bullpen and none of these three will make the cut. Bootcheck spent last season in Japan and has a rough 6.54 career ERA in the major leagues.

Rays signed RHP Chris Bootcheck to a minor league contract.

He's getting an invite to spring training. Bootcheck spent last year in Japan after posting a 6.54 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over his first six major league seasons. There are certainly spots up for grabs in the Rays bullpen, but Bootcheck isn't going to be a difference maker even if he manages to crack the opening day roster.
Sun, Feb 13, 2011 04:03:00 PM

Chris Bootcheck has cleared outright waivers and elected for free agency.

Bootcheck, a 30-year-old right-hander, posted an ERA of 11.05 in 14 2/3 innings of relief this season and an ERA of 10.13 in 16 innings last season. He's unlikely to draw much interest this winter.
Tue, Oct 20, 2009 05:26:00 PM

Chris Bootcheck left the Pirates Thursday evening to be with his wife, who gave birth to a baby girl in Atlanta.

Bootcheck shouldn't be gone from the team for more than a day or two. He has a brutal 11.37 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 12 2/3 innings this season.
Fri, Sep 25, 2009 10:16:00 AM

Chris Bootcheck was tagged for seven runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief by the Cubs on Friday.

It looks like Bootcheck's latest major league stay will be a short one. He's given up 11 runs in four innings since joining the Pirates a week ago.
