Phillies placed INF Andres Blanco on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left index finger.

Blanco suffered the injury Sunday in the Phillies' loss to the Pirates when Gregory Polanco slid into his hand at third base in the bottom of the fifth inning. Blanco could very well be done for the season.

Andres Blanco will be placed on the disabled list after being diagnosed with a fractured left index finger on Sunday.

Blanco suffered the injury when he was spiked. It's unclear at this point how long the utility infielder might be sidelined.
Jul 24 - 4:36 PM

Andres Blanco went 3-for-4 and hit his third homer Wednesday against the Twins.

Blanco had been in a five-week slump that dropped his OPS from .952 on May 14 to a more appropriate .722 entering tonight's affair. Still, he's been a really nice utilityman for the Phillies this last year and a half, and some contender might try to add him next month.
Jun 23 - 12:18 AM

Andres Blanco blasted a three-run homer on Friday, powering the Phillies to a 6-3 victory over the visiting Brewers.

Blanco's three-run shot was the dagger in the side of Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson in the fourth inning and capped off the Phillies' scoring in the contest. It was his lone hit in four at-bats in the game, but proved to be the difference maker. For the season, Blanco is now hitting .270/.333/.486 with a pair of homers and 11 RBI.
Jun 3 - 10:47 PM

Andres Blanco hit a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning of Sunday's win over the Marlins.

The Phillies entered the eighth trailing 5-4, but in that frame, they would tie the contest up on an RBI double off the bat of Tyler Goeddel before Blanco came through with a run-scoring two-bagger of his own off reliever David Phelps. In 37 at-bats, the 32-year-old first baseman is slashing .324/.390/.595. He doesn't see enough at-bats to make for a true fantasy option.
May 8 - 5:25 PM

Andres Blanco went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's victory over the Nationals.

Blanco's shot to right-center field off of Scherzer in the first inning put the Phillies out in front early, and they went back ahead on a Maikel Franco RBI double in the seventh. Blanco has quietly been a pretty productive extra guy for the Phillies the last few years and is off to a .346/.433/.577 start this season.
Apr 26 - 11:20 PM

Andrew Blanco went 2-for-4 with a grand slam to lead the Phillies to an 8-4 win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Blanco outhit Ryan Howard last year, and he's done so again this spring. Maybe he should be the Phillies' first baseman. But, unfortunately, not everyone capable of outhitting Ryan Howard can serve as the Phillies' first baseman.
Mar 30 - 5:29 PM

The Phillies hope Andres Blanco (shoulder) will be ready to play on Monday.

Blanco has been battling a sore shoulder so far in camp. It doesn't seem to be a big issue, though, as the utility player appears to be nearing game action.
Mar 6 - 9:26 AM

Phillies and INF Andres Blanco avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.45 million contract.

Blanco hit well across 233 at-bats with the Phillies in 2015, slashing .292/.360/.502 with seven homers and 25 RBI. While those numbers might be a little fluky -- he's a career .266/.317/.385 hitter -- they were good enough to secure him a roster spot for the coming season. Blanco turns 32 years old in April.

Andres Blanco was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Mets.

No word on the reason for the change. Darnell Sweeney will start at second base and bat sixth against Bartolo Colon.

Andres Blanco broke a 4-4 tie in the ninth inning with a two-run home run, finishing 3-for-6 in Sunday's win against the Nationals.

Nationals closer Jonathan Papelbon was involved in a physical altercation with Bryce Harper leading into the inning, and Blanco took full advantage, swatting a two-run home run off of the veteran. The Phillies would bat around and Blanco tacked on an RBI single. The utilityman has turned in a fantastic year, batting .287/.356/.480 with six home runs and 23 RBI in 250 plate appearances. Blanco will likely return to the Phillies in a similar role next season.
Sun, Sep 27, 2015 04:47:00 PM

Andres Blanco went 1-for-4 with a double and a strikeout in Saturday's loss to the Braves.

Blanco's double was the only extra-base hit the Phillies managed in the game. This season, the 31-year-old third baseman is hitting a cool .293/.358/.495 with five homers and 19 RBI over 198 at-bats.
Sat, Sep 19, 2015 09:47:00 PM

Andres Blanco went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored as the Phillies beat the Braves on Tuesday.

Blanco led off the fifth inning with a triple to right-center and came around to score the Phillies' second run. It's Blanco's third triple in what has been a very productive season in a part-time role in Philadelphia. He also has 17 doubles, five home runs, 18 RBI, 24 runs scored, and a .310/.379/.532 triple-slash line in 192 plate appearances. Blanco should draw a significant raise in his third and final year of arbitration eligibility heading into the 2016 season.

Andres Blanco went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Blanco drilled a Neal Cotts offering for a solo home run in the ninth inning. It only served a cosmetic purpose, though, as the Phillies were down 6-0 at the time. Over 109 at-bats, he's hitting .284/.355/.514 with four homers and 13 RBI. Nice numbers given his utility role, but there's not a fantasy play here.
