Rays signed RHP Lance Cormier to a minor league contract.
Cormier was designated for assignment by the Dodgers last month after posting a 9.88 ERA and 7/5 K/BB ratio over his first 13 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander has some artificial success with the Rays last season, so he could be an option with the major league club at some point this summer. Mon, Jun 6, 2011 05:12:00 PM

Dodgers designated RHP Lance Cormier for assignment.

He was cleared to make room for Rubby De La Rosa on the roster. The 30-year-old Cormier made the Dodgers out of spring training as a non-roster invitee, but has posted an ugly 9.88 ERA and 7/5 K/BB ratio over his first 13 2/3 innings this season.

Lance Cormier has landed a big league bullpen job.

Cormier, 30, posted a 2.25 ERA in Cactus League appearances this spring to beat out his competition. The righty will serve as a middle reliever for the Dodgers.

Dodgers signed RHP Lance Cormier to a minor league contract.

The contract includes an invite to big league spring training, where he'll compete for a spot in Don Mattingly's bullpen. Cormier, 30, posted a superficially solid 3.92 ERA across 60 relief appearances with the Rays last season, but he did so with an awful 30/34 K/BB over 62 innings.

Rays non-tendered RHP Lance Cormier.

The Rays badly need bullpen depth, but not at the cost that it would have taken to retain Cormier. He earned $1.2 million in 2010 and would have secured a raise via arbitration despite posting a 1.65 WHIP over 60 relief appearances. The Rays may try to re-sign him at a lesser rate.

Rays agreed to terms with RHP Lance Cormier on a one-year, $1.2 million contract.

Cormier gets a $525,000 raise after a terrific year out of the pen. He pitched 77 1/3 innings and posted a 3.26 ERA, even though he struck out just 36 batters on the season. He'll continue to work in middle relief.

Rays signed RHP Lance Cormier, formerly of the Orioles, to a one-year, $675,000 contract.

Designated for assignment by Baltimore last month, Cormier will likely pitch out of Tampa Bay's bullpen after posting a 4.02 ERA in 71 2/3 innings last season. However, his 5.53 career mark and sub par 46/34 K/BB ratio last year suggest that he'll be a mediocre middle reliever at best.

Orioles non-tendered RHP Lance Cormier.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles did attempt to come to terms with Cormier, but couldn't get anything done. The 28-year-old had a 4.02 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP in 71 2/3 innings last season. He could end up re-signing with the O's if he doesn't find the free agent market to his liking.

Orioles purchased the contract of RHP Lance Cormier from Triple-A Norfolk.

Cormier was off to a great start in Triple-A, but he's not a major league pitcher. He gave up 16 homers in 45 2/3 innings for the Braves last year, taking his career ERA up to 5.98. The Orioles should be able to do better.

Handed a four-run lead in the ninth, Lance Cormier gave up five runs -- four earned -- without recording an out Sunday against the Nationals.

This after he allowed three runs an inning in his first appearance of the spring. Cormier is quickly taking himself out of the running for a spot in Baltimore's pen.

Orioles signed RHP Lance Cormier to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Cormier gave up a whopping 16 homers in just 45 2/3 innings for the Braves last season. Unable to hack it in the NL, it had to be either Baltimore or Japan as his next destination.

The Orioles are close to signing Lance Cormier to a minor league contract.

Cormier had a 7.09 ERA in nine starts and one relief appearance for the Braves last season, leaving him with a career mark of 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA and a 157/129 K/BB ratio in 244 innings. Clearly, he'll fit right in.

Braves waived RHP Lance Cormier for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

Cormier was designated for assignment on Dec. 1.

Braves designated RHP Lance Cormier for assignment.

Cormier had a 7.09 ERA in nine starts and one relief appearance for the Braves last season, leaving him with a career mark of 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA and a 157/129 K/BB ratio in 244 innings. In other words, he's not very good.

Lance Cormier couldn't get out of the third inning Saturday, getting ripped by the Nats for his sixth loss of the season.

In two-plus innings, Cormier yielded three hits and five runs -- four earned -- while walking four and recording no strikeouts. The Nats took him deep twice as Cormier's ERA soared to 7.09. He'll probably remain the rotation the rest of the way, but that doesn't make him an attractive option.
