Jul 24 - 5:09 PM

Tom Gorzelanny has elected free agency.

He refused his assignment to Triple-A Columbus and will try to catch on elsewhere. The veteran posted an ugly 21.00 ERA over seven appearances for the Tribe before getting DFA'd.
Jul 9 - 4:23 PM

Indians sent LHP Tom Gorzellany outright to Triple-A Columbus.

The veteran left-hander was designated for assignment by the club on Monday after allowing seven runs in just three innings of work (21.00 ERA) with the big league club. He'll bide his time at Triple-A until he's called upon again.
Jul 9 - 9:34 AM

Indians designated LHP Tom Gorzelanny for assignment.

Gorzelanny gets the boot after he was charged for seven runs on four hits and three walks over one-third of an inning Sunday versus the Blue Jays. Joba Chamberlain was also designated for assignment Monday.
Jul 4 - 4:07 PM

Indians purchased the contract of LHP Tom Gorzelanny from Triple-A Columbus.

Gorzelanny had a 3.38 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 19/11 K/BB ratio through 18 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A. He will join the Cleveland bullpen on Wednesday night.
Jun 1 - 2:51 PM

Indians reassigned Tom Gorzelanny to minor league camp.

Gorzelanny could have opted out of his deal with Cleveland after failing to make the 25-man roster, but the veteran lefty has agreed to stick around and open the season at Triple-A Columbus. He'll get a shot soon.
Mar 28 - 1:06 PM

Indians manager Terry Francona informed Tom Gorzelanny that he will not make the club's Opening Day roster.

Francona likely told him now so that Gorzelanny could secure an opportunity elsewhere if he didn't want to pitch in the minor leagues. Expect other clubs who are looking for left-handed relief help to come calling.
Mar 26 - 12:53 PM

Indians signed LHP Tom Gorzelanny to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Gorzelanny had a rough 5.95 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 48 appearances this past season with Detroit. He was an effective long reliever from 2012 until the early part of 2014, when his left shoulder began barking again. It's doubtful he cracks the Indians' Opening Day bullpen next spring, but Gorzelanny will probably make it up to Cleveland at some point. He has held left-handed batters to a .230/.303/.359 line for his career.

Tigers recalled LHP Tom Gorzelanny from Triple-A Toledo.

Gorzelanny didn't pitch particularly well during his nine-game stint with Toledo (4.00 ERA in nine innings) but he does have 289 games of major league experience to fall back on. Detroit demoted struggling right-hander Shane Greene to make room for Gorzelanny. He'll be used in middle relief.

Tigers sent LHP Tom Gorzelanny outright to Triple-A Toledo.

Not surprisingly, Gorzelanny cleared waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster, although it's a little surprising that he's decided to accept a Triple-A assignment. He'll try to iron out his issues and earn a spot back in the big league bullpen.

Tigers designated LHP Tom Gorzelanny for assignment.

Gorzelanny was awful in 30 appearances for the Tigers, putting up a 6.75 ERA and 2.00 WHIP. He figures to clear waivers and should get a shot somewhere else given his track record.

Jason Beck of MLB.com hears that Tom Gorzelanny's one-year contract with the Tigers is worth around $1 million.

It's a small price to pay in this market. Gorzelanny was limited to just 21 innings with the Brewers last season after making his way back from shoulder surgery, but he has had success in the past and could be a useful arm in Detroit's bullpen if healthy.

Tigers signed LHP Tom Gorzelanny to a one-year contract.

No word on the terms involved. Gorzelanny had a late start last season after shoulder surgery, but posted a 0.86 ERA and 23/8 K/BB ratio over 21 innings with the Brewers. The veteran southpaw could function in a swingman role for Detroit in 2015.

Brewers activated LHP Tom Gorzelanny from the 15-day disabled list.

The veteran southpaw has missed the entire season after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. He posted a 3.90 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 83/31 K/BB ratio over 85 1/3 innings as a swingman for the Brewers in 2013.
