Jeff Keppinger has yet to draw a walk in 128 plate appearances this season.

It's quite an oddity, as he's the only player with at least 40 plate appearances who hasn't drawn a walk. Keppinger has never been known as an on-base machine, but he still owns a 6.3 percent career walk rate. The aggressive approach hasn't worked well for him so far, as he's batting just .183/.180/.198 with zero homers and a .378 OPS. May 14 - 12:11 PM

Jeff Keppinger - 2B - White Sox

Jeff Keppinger went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Saturday in the White Sox loss to the Royals.

Keppinger is now batting just .186/.182/.206 in 23 games with the White Sox. Some people liked him as a fantasy sleeper this year, but that never made much sense.

Jeff Keppinger (back) has been cleared to return to Chicago's starting lineup Wednesday against the Rangers.

Keppinger wound up missing four games because of back spasms. He's hitting just .202/.198/.226 on the young season.

Jeff Keppinger (back) is hoping to return to the White Sox' lineup on Wednesday or Thursday.

Keppinger has missed the last four games with back spasms but is feeling better. "It's gotten better each day," Keppinger said. "If I would have had to fly out Saturday or Friday, I would have had no shot. But it's loosened up tremendously. I'm available (Tuesday) and hopefully I'm back in there by (Wednesday)."

He's being called day-to-day. It's too bad, as Keppinger finally appeared to be coming around with the bat in recent days. Tyler Greene will fill in at second base.

Jeff Keppinger - 2B - White Sox

White Sox manager Robin Ventura announced Friday that Jeff Keppinger will hit second in the lineup.

He'll be followed by Alex Rios, Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko in the heart of the order. While Keppinger has made his living off of left-handed pitching over the past few seasons, he'll finally receive an opportunity to play every day and could provide sneaky fantasy value with his solid lineup spot and multi-position eligibility.

Jeff Keppinger - 2B - White Sox

Jeff Keppinger continued to tear the cover off the ball Thursday, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in an 8-3 win over the Brewers.

Keppinger also drew a walk. He's now hitting .516 (16-for-31) this spring. While he's expected to start at third base for the White Sox this season, his multi-position eligibility could give him sneaky value in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Keppinger served as the DH on Sunday in his first game since March 9. The veteran infielder has been dealing with shoulder soreness this spring and also recently had to leave camp due to a personal matter, but he should be ready for Opening Day.

Jeff Keppinger (shoulder) is back in the White Sox' lineup Sunday.

Keppinger was away for a few days while tending to a personal matter. He's also still nursing some shoulder soreness and is in the DH spot Sunday, but he maintains that it's not a long-term concern. "I don't have an issue with my shoulder where it's going to be a problem all season long,'' Keppinger said. "There's a little irritation and inflammation in there from just picking up the use really fast where in the offseason I didn't much time to build it up. I'm pretty sure it's taken care of and we'll move forward from here.''

Keppinger has been battling shoulder issues throughout camp, but that's not what's holding him out of this one. He should be back in action within a day or two.

Keppinger has dealt with shoulder issues off and on during camp, but the White Sox don't seem to be overly concerned. The veteran infielder is expected to return to action this weekend and could see some time at second base. He'll be the Sox' regular at the hot corner this season.

Keppinger was slowed early on in camp by a sore shoulder, but he's played third base the last few days and not had any issues. The veteran infielder will open the 2013 campaign as the White Sox' starter at the hot corner.
