Jason Kubel - OF - Diamondbacks

Jason Kubel has been out of the starting lineup the past two games after aggravating his left quadriceps injury.

The injury forced him onto the disabled list earlier this season. "Just trying to get over that," Kubel said. "We decided to give it a few days rest." Kubel was batting .333/.375/.600 with two homers and six RBI before going down with the injury on April 9 and he's struggled mightily since, batting .167 since his activation. Arizona begins a three-game series Friday against Florida and Kubel's former Twins teammate Kevin Slowey. Cody Ross and A.J. Pollock will pick up additional at-bats if Kubel can't play.

Jason Kubel lifted a two-run homer in Monday's loss to the Giants.

The longball was the first of three to leave the yard versus Matt Cain in the fourth inning. Kubel also drew a walk in his second game back from the disabled list. Despite missing nearly weeks of action, Kubel has three dingers this month.

Diamondbacks activated OF Jason Kubel from the 15-day disabled list.

Kubel had been slated to play in rehab game on Monday and Tuesday, but the D'Backs have obviously scrapped that plan and decided to activate him a few days early. The outfielder was batting .333/.375/.600 with two homers and six RBI before going down with a quad injury on April 9.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Saturday that Jason Kubel (quadriceps) will play minor league rehab games on Monday and Tuesday at Triple-A Reno.

Which would put the outfielder in line to return on Wednesday, May 1 for the Snakes' series-finale with the Giants. Kubel has been on the disabled list since April 13 with a strained left quad. He homered and finished 3-for-4 Saturday in an extended spring training game.

Kubel is hoping to return to the Diamondbacks' starting lineup on Monday -- the first day that he is eligible for activation. He has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 13 because of a strained left quad.

Jason Kubel (quad) was the designated hitter during an extended spring training game on Thursday.

It's his first game action since he landed on the DL on April 13 with a strained left quad. When he'll be allowed to play the outfield isn't clear, but Kubel isn't far away from rejoining the D'Backs lineup.

Kubel had an MRI on Saturday that revealed a minor setback so the Diamondbacks are going to shut him down for the next couple of days. He was expected to return on April 28, but that obviously won't be happening.

Kubel suffered the strain on Tuesday and hadn't made enough improvement by this weekend. He'll look to return to action by the end of April. Cody Ross was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move.

He underwent an MRI on Saturday afternoon -- the results of which should be available by Saturday night. Kubel has been out of the lineup since Tuesday with a left quad issue, but his condition has improved over the past couple of days. It sounds like he'll avoid a trip to the DL, but could still be questionable for the remainder of the weekend. Alfredo Marte is drawing the start in left field on Friday.

The exact reason for his absence isn't clear, but he indicated that he's a little banged up right now. The Diamondbacks will go with Gerardo Parra, A.J. Pollock and Alfredo Marte from right to left in their outfield on Wednesday.

Good news for the Diamondbacks. Kubel made an early exit on Tuesday due to left ankle discomfort, but all signs point to him being ready for Opening Day.

Eaton was recently pulled off his minor league rehab assignment due to renewed discomfort in his elbow. Towers said an MRI showed fluid around his ulnar collateral ligament, but no new damage was found. As of now, he's expected to rest for 2-3 weeks before restarting his rehab program, but he'll get Andrews' opinion just to be on the safe side. May 23

It's the first time since last year's Tommy John surgery that Hudson has faced hitters wearing a different uniform. The D'Backs says the righty's fastball sat in the 91-93 mph range, which is obviously a good sign. "The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little bit brighter now," Hudson said. Hudson will appear in another extended spring game next week and doesn't appear far off from a rehab assignment. He could be back as soon as late June if all goes well, though the big club doesn't currently have room for him in the rotation. May 19
