Mets re-signed utilityman Russ Adams to a minor league contract.

Adams, 30, finished with a .264/.333/.473 batting line and 16 homers over 383 at-bats at the Triple-A level in 2010. Unless there's an injury on the big league roster, he will again serve as organizational depth.

Mets signed utilityman Russ Adams to a minor league contract.

The club also announced minor league deals for infielders Andy Green and Mike Cervenak and outfielder Jesus Feliciano. All will get invites to spring training. Adams, a former first-rounder of the Blue Jays, will attempt to resurrect his career in New York. He batted .294 with 30 RBIs in 84 games in 2009 with the Triple A affiliates of the Blue Jays and Padres.

Padres signed utilityman Russ Adams to a minor league contract and sent him to Triple-A Portland.

Adams, 28, had a .319/.363/.514 line in the minors, but went just 4-for-20 upon his promotion, prompting his release from the Blue Jays. The former first-rounder will attempt to resurrect his career in San Diego. He should be in the bigs before long as the club needs middle infielders.

Blue Jays designated utilityman Russ Adams for assignment.

Adams, the Jays' first-round pick in 2002, had a .319/.363/.514 batting line on the Triple-A level this season, prompting his promotion. Once in the spotlight, however, the 28-year-old went just 4-for-20 (.200) with no extra-base hits, no home runs and no RBI.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of utilityman Russ Adams.

Adams failed to make the club out of spring training, but redeemed himself with a .319/.363/.514 batting line on the Triple-A level. He doesn't bring much power to the table, but should do a better job of getting on base than Joe Inglett.

Russ Adams returned to action on Saturday and went 0-for-1 with a walk and a HBP.

Adams missed three days due to a mild left quad strain. He's not a candidate to break camp with the Blue Jays.

Russ Adams is expected to miss a few days after injuring his left quad on Tuesday.

He may be out of the lineup through Friday or Saturday, but the injury isn't thought to be serious.

Blue Jays designated infielder-outfielder Russ Adams for assignment.

A mere 2 1/2 years after they decided they wanted nothing further to do with him. Adams started at shortstop for Toronto in 2005 and opened 2006 back at the position before throwing problems ruined his Jays career. He lacked range at short anyway and he never developed as hoped offensively, so he wasn't likely to be a long-term regular regardless. Adams spent last year hitting .259/.341/.417 as a second baseman and corner outfielder for Triple-A Syracuse. He's versatile enough to function as a 25th man if he bounces back somewhat offensively.

Russ Adams didn't start Friday because of a sore right shoulder.

Hector Luna replaced him at third base. It's unclear if the injury will keep Adams out all weekend.

Russ Adams had an RBI infield single and then a grand slam in the eighth to put the Red Sox away as the Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep on Wednesday.

Adams also came up with a big double last night. Nothing he did in the minors this year suggests he's ready to make be a major contributor, but he's 11-for-33 with two homers since being called up a month ago.

With Troy Glaus done for the year, Russ Adams will get plenty of action at third base for the remainder of the year.

Toronto wants to assess Adams as a possible utility infielder, given that he can play shortstop and second base as well. It seems strange that Adams has suddenly worked his way back into the team's plans considering how buried he looked headed into this season.

Blue Jays recalled infielder Russ Adams from Triple-A Syracuse.

Adams isn't likely to be an upgrade over Hector Luna. The two-time Opening Day shortstop was hitting .262/.330/.402 in 428 at-bats in Triple-A. The Jays will use him as a utilityman for now, but he shouldn't fit into their plans for the future.

Triple-A Syracuse's Russ Adams hit his fourth homer in eight games on Saturday.

Adams has a total of 15 hits in the eight games, raising his average from .211 to .254. If he can keep it up for another couple of weeks, the Jays will have to consider trying him as a utilityman.

Blue Jays optioned 2B Russ Adams, RHP Matt Roney, RHP Ty Taubenheim and 3B John Hattig to Triple-A Syracuse; reassigned INF Rob Cosby to minor league camp.

Adams, the Jays' Opening Day shortstop the last two seasons, wasn't considered a candidate to make the team this spring. He's in need of a change of scenery, but even if he gets one, his future is likely as a utilityman.
