Logan Kensing left his live batting practice session Tuesday with right groin tightness.

Kensing was signed to a minor league contract in January and is trying to win a spot in the Pirates' Opening Day 'pen. It's not clear if the groin injury is serious.

Pirates signed RHP Logan Kensing to a minor league contract.

The deal also comes with an invitation to spring training, but Kensing is a longshot for a spot in the Pirates' Opening Day bullpen. He hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2009, when he was with the Nationals.

Yankees signed RHP Logan Kensing to a minor league contract.

Kensing was pitching with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the independent Atlantic League. The 28-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched professionally since 2009 in the Nationals' organization. He underwent elbow surgery twice last year and missed the entire season.

Rays signed RHP Logan Kensing to a minor league contract.

He'll report to extended spring training. Kensing, 27, was released by the Nationals last month. He compiled an ugly 8.92 ERA and 2.01 WHIP in 32 relief appearances between the Nationals and Marlins last season. He's likely to just be organizational depth at this point.

Nationals released RHP Logan Kensing.

Kensing posted an awful 8.92 ERA and 2.01 WHIP in 32 appearances between the Nationals and Marlins last season and owns a 5.81 ERA in 134 career major league outings. He will try to latch on with another club.

Nationals signed RHP Logan Kensing to a minor league contract.

The 27-year-old Kensing was horrible in 2009, posting an 8.92 ERA and 2.01 WHIP in 32 appearances between the Nationals and Marlins. He has a 5.81 ERA in 134 career major league appearances. He's nothing more than cannon-fodder.

Nationals purchased the contract of RHP Logan Kensing from Triple-A Syracuse.

Kensing was awful in 17 appearances with the Nationals earlier this season, compiling a 10.71 ERA over 19 1/3 innings. He had a 2.97 ERA in 31 games with Triple-A Syracuse. With the Nationals' intention to make sweeping changes in their bullpen before next season, his future in the organization is likely on the line.

Nationals designated RHP Logan Kensing for assignment.

It's the second time this year Kensing has been DFA'd. He has a 10.46 ERA, a 2.18 WHIP and a 14/15 K/BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings this season out of Washington's bullpen. He's likely to wind up at Triple-A Syracuse, and the Nationals are expected to make a corresponding roster move Tuesday.

Nationals purchased the contract of RHP Logan Kensing from Triple-A Syracuse.

Kensing was designated for assignment back in mid-May after allowing 10 runs in six appearances at the major league level. He has since collected 12 saves in 13 opportunities while posting a 3.91 ERA for Triple-A Syracuse. The right-hander should do well in middle relief.

Nationals designated RHP Logan Kensing for assignment.

Kensing was given an opportunity by the pitching-starved Nats, and allowed 10 runs in six appearances. That's how you wear out your welcome in two weeks.

Nationals acquired RHP Logan Kensing from the Marlins for minor league RHP Kyle Gunderson.

Considering their bullpen woes, the Nationals might as well take a shot on the hard-throwing Kensing, who had an unsightly 9.82 ERA and 2.59 WHIP in 7 1/3 innings for the Marlins this season. The Washington Post reports that Kensing will be in uniform for Wednesday night's game, and there's certainly an opportunity for him to work his way into a setup role if he pitches well. Gunderson, a 2007 48th-round pick, will report to the Marlins' Single-A affiliate in Jupiter.

Marlins designated RHP Logan Kensing for assignment.

Signed to one-year, $650,000 contract this winter, Kensing allowed eight earned runs on 14 hits in 7 1/3 innings this season. The move cleared roster space for Sunday's starter, Graham Taylor. We're guessing that the Marlins will be able to trade Kensing before he goes on waivers.
Sun, Apr 26, 2009 12:07:00 AM

Marlins agreed to terms with RHP Logan Kensing on a one-year, $650,000 contract.

The Marlins did send Kensing to the minors for a month last year, but it wasn't a long enough stint to prevent him from being eligible for arbitration for the first time. It was a surprising oversight from baseball's cheapest organization. Kensing will probably alternate between middle relief and a setup role, depending on how he's commanding his pitches at any given time.

Marlins recalled RHP Logan Kensing from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Kensing rejoins the Marlins' bullpen a month after being demoted to Triple-A despite a 6.39 ERA and 17/12 K/BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings at Albuquerque. He replaces Doug Waechtler on the roster and figures to work in middle relief.
