Brad Snyder came on to replace him at first base. It's unclear what the cause or extent of the injury are at this point. The Rangers should have an update on his status shortly.
Jun 22 - 9:35 PM

Donnie Murphy came out of nowhere to slam two homers in the Rangers' 14-8 shootout victory over the A's on Monday.

Donnie "Babe Ruth" Murphy, the Oakland television broadcast team joked. Murphy's fourth inning two-run homer put the Rangers ahead 4-2. The second one, sliced down the right field line off Fernando Abad in the ninth, scarcely snuck by the foul pole on descent and helped to put an exclamation point on a wild offensive affair. This was fun and all, but Murphy hadn't collected a hit since June 1 coming into tonight. The utility man does have a bit of pop (.392 career slugging percentage; 11 homers last year in limited at-bats), but he's batting just .216 in 102 at-bats.
Jun 17 - 1:57 AM

Donnie Murphy left after the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Rockies with an apparent injury.

May 1 - 3:08 PM

It's not clear at this point how Murphy suffered the injury or how long he might be sidelined. Josh Wilson took Murphy's spot at second base Monday.
Apr 28 - 10:29 PM

Donnie Murphy hit his first home run of the season in the Rangers' win over the A's on Wednesday.

It was his only hit on the afternoon. Murphy's sixth inning homer off A's starter Sonny Gray served as mere insurance for Martin Perez' complete game shutout. The second baseman was pressed into action with the Rangers' rash of injuries to infielders and isn't a fantasy contributor.
Apr 23 - 6:24 PM

Donnie Murphy went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Rangers' win over the Rays on Sunday.

Murphy has started three games at the keystone since being claimed off waivers from the Cubs before the season. He's got three hits in 11 at-bats (.273) in those starts, including two Sunday. The run batted in was his first of the year, and he should continue to see part-time work at second base while Jurickson Profar is out.
Apr 6 - 5:52 PM

Rangers claimed INF Donnie Murphy off waivers from the Cubs.

Murphy, 31, hit .255/.318/.530 with 11 home runs in 163 plate appearances with the Cubs last season. He'll give the Rangers another option at second base as they attempt to get by without Jurickson Profar. As for the Cubs, it appears likely that Mike Olt will make the Opening Day roster.
