MLB.com's Jon Morosi reports that Cameron Maybin is one of the options the Royals are considering for center field.
Kansas City doesn't seem to think it will be able to afford to retain Lorenzo Cain, but Maybin represents what should be a much cheaper fallback option. The 30-year-old batted .228/.318/.365 with 10 home runs and 33 stolen bases across 114 games for the Angels and Astros this past season. Nov 13 - 2:32 PM

Date:

Cameron Maybin is starting in left field and batting ninth for the Astros in Monday's ALCS Game 3 versus the Yankees.

It will be the first start this postseason for Maybin, who will push Marwin Gonzalez to first base and Yulieski Gurriel to the designated hitter spot. Evan Gattis is getting a start at catcher, while Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran are on the bench against left CC Sabathia. The Astros' full lineup looks like this: George Springer CF, Alex Bregman 3B, Jose Altuve 2B, Carlos Correa SS, Gurriel DH, Gattis C, Gonzalez 1B, Josh Reddick RF, Maybin LF.
Oct 16 - 4:38 PM

Cameron Maybin went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and three runs scored in Tuesday's victory over the Rangers.

Maybin's fourth home run as an Astro came in the sixth inning off of reliever Yohander Mendez. He also had a "little league home run" in the fifth, tripling and scoring on an error, and added his 33rd stolen base of the season in an all-around great fantasy night. Maybin is now tied for the American League lead with his 33 steals.
Sep 26 - 11:45 PM

Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to lead the Astros to a 5-3 win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Maybin one-upped last night's go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning. He has three homers in 16 at-bats since the Astros plucked him off the waiver wire. It's getting increasingly difficult to see how he couldn't have been of some use to the Angels this month.
Sep 7 - 1:12 AM

Cameron Maybin went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's game in Seattle.

The veteran outfielder hasn't collected many hits since coming over from the Angels earlier in the month, but he is making his hits count. He is 3-for-14 (.214) through five games, but he has a pair of homers with six RBI.
Sep 6 - 3:01 AM

Cameron Maybin hit his first Astros homer in Sunday's victory over the Mets.

It was a three-run shot in the bottom of the third inning, part of a five-run frame for the host Astros. Maybin won't get as much regular playing time in Houston as he did in Anaheim, but the dynamic 30-year-old outfielder is another nice piece for that first-place roster.
Sep 3 - 6:19 PM

Astros claimed OF Cameron Maybin off waivers from the Angels.

It was a revocable waiver claim, so Anaheim gets nothing in return but Houston will be on the hook for whatever remains of Maybin's $9 million salary for 2017. The 30-year-old outfielder should see starts in Houston against left-handed pitchers, but this is mostly about beefing up the bench for the postseason. Maybin is tied with new teammate Jose Altuve for the American League lead in stolen bases.
Aug 31 - 3:08 PM

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Astros have acquired Cameron Maybin from the Angels.

That'll open left field for Justin Upton, whom the Angels just acquired from the Tigers. Maybin, 30, was batting .235/.333/.351 with six home runs and 29 stolen bases through 93 games this season with Anaheim. He is scheduled to become a free agent this winter. No word yet on the Angels' return.
Aug 31 - 2:39 PM

Cameron Maybin is not in the Angels' lineup Sunday.

Maybin is hitting just .224/.309/.245 since returning from the disabled list and has only started 11 of 19 games, as it seems pretty clear that his right knee still isn't 100 percent. Ben Revere is in left field and in the leadoff spot Sunday.
Aug 27 - 1:01 PM

Cameron Maybin went 2-for-3 with a walk and a steal in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.

The Angels were blanked on the scoreboard in this one, but it was a nice little game for Maybin nonetheless. The veteran outfielder has now stolen 28 bases on the season, including three in his last five games. When it comes to his bat-work, though, there is less to enthuse over -- Maybin owns an uninspiring .238/.339/.354 triple-slash for the campaign.
Aug 25 - 1:02 AM

Cameron Maybin (knee) is back in the Angels' lineup Monday.

It's his first start since last Tuesday, as he's been battling nagging soreness in his right knee. Maybin missed nearly three weeks of action previously due to an injury to the same knee, and he's hit only .214/.267/.250 since returning so it seems he may never have really recovered. He's feeling well enough to give it a go Monday, though.
Aug 21 - 8:04 PM

Cameron Maybin (knee) remained out of the Angels' lineup Sunday.

He hasn't played since Wednesday due to nagging right knee soreness. It's the same knee that sent Maybin to the disabled list and he might have to head back there if he doesn't improve in a hurry. Ben Revere will get another start in left field and in the leadoff spot.
Aug 20 - 11:18 AM

Cameron Maybin is not in the Angels' lineup Friday due to right knee soreness.

It's the same knee that sent him to the disabled list last month and has now cost him two straight starts. Consider Maybin day-to-day for now. Ben Revere is in left field and in the leadoff spot.
Aug 18 - 5:40 PM

Cameron Maybin is not in the Angels' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Nationals.

Ben Revere will play left field and hit leadoff in the matinee game against Nats right-hander Tanner Roark. Maybin is batting just .192/.250/.231 since returning from the disabled list August 7.
Aug 16 - 10:23 AM

Cameron Maybin is not in the Angels' lineup Saturday against the Mariners.

It's a routine day off for Maybin, who has hit a mere .176 (3-for-17) since coming off the DL earlier this month. Ben Revere, Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun round out the Angels' starting outfield Saturday against Seattle.
