Cameron Maybin has been diagnosed with Grade 1 sprain of the MCL in his right knee and is expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks.

Maybin suffered the injury Tuesday on an attempted steal of second base in the bottom of the first inning. He'll be placed on the disabled list Wednesday, with Shane Robinson likely replacing him on the Angels' active roster. Including his 1-for-1 on Tuesday night, Maybin has batted .238/.342/.368 with six home runs and 25 steals in 75 games this season.
Jul 19 - 1:21 AM

Cameron Maybin will undergo an MRI on his right knee late Tuesday night.

Maybin limped off the field in the first inning of Tuesday's game against the Nationals after injuring his knee on a feet-first slide into second base. It looked pretty serious. There should be an update from the Angels by Wednesday afternoon.
Jul 19 - 12:47 AM

Cameron Maybin left Tuesday night's game against the Nationals with an apparent knee injury.

Maybin had to be helped off the field after an awkward slide into second base in the bottom of the first inning. He singled to lead off the frame and was attempting to steal his 26th base of the season. There should be an update soon from Anaheim. This looks like it could be a lengthy absence.
Jul 18 - 10:24 PM

Cameron Maybin finished with a pair of singles and an RBI in Saturday's game against the Mariners.

It wasn't all great for the leadoff hitter of the Angels as he was caught stealing for the second time this season. He has hit safely in 15 of his past 20 outings, posting two or more hits in eight of those games. He is also 11-for-12 on steal attempts during the span.
Jul 2 - 3:05 AM

Cameron Maybin is not in the Angels' lineup Tuesday.

Albert Pujols isn't playing, either, as the Halos have a pretty weak-looking order against Kenta Maeda and the Dodgers. Eric Young Jr. is in center field and Luis Valbuena is at first base.
Jun 27 - 6:00 PM

Cameron Maybin hit a leadoff homer, stole a base and scored three runs as the Angels doubled up the Yankees 10-5 on Thursday.

Maybin had just the one hit, his sixth homer of the year off Yankees starter Luis Severino to open the contest, but he also walked twice like a good leadoff man is wont to do. Also like a good leadoff man, the 30-year-old now has 46 runs scored on the year, ninth-most in the American League. His 22 stolen bases are best in the AL. It's just been an all-around good year for Maybin, who's hitting .277/.387/.442 after Thursday.
Jun 23 - 1:06 AM

Cameron Maybin went 3-for-5 with a homer and a double as the Angels topped the Yankees 8-3 on Tuesday.

Maybin has five homers, 14 doubles and 21 steals in 201 at-bats for the Angels. He was just as effective of a hitter for the Tigers last year (thanks to a .315 average), but he totaled just four homers, 13 doubles and 15 steals in 349 at-bats then. He's already done enough that this qualifies as his second best season from a fantasy perspective, and it could top his 40-steal 2011 campaign with the Padres.
Jun 20 - 11:14 PM

Cameron Maybin finished Saturday's game against the Royals with a double, solo home run and two runs scored over four at-bats.

Maybin has hit safely in eight straight games. The veteran is hitting .388 (31-for-80) with three home runs since being moved to the leadoff spot by manager Mike Scioscia.
Jun 18 - 1:11 AM

Cameron Maybin is out of the Angels' starting lineup Saturday against the Astros.

Maybin deserves a breather after going 3-for-4 with a walk, four stolen bases, and four runs scored on Friday night against the Astros. It was his first game back from a 10-day disabled list stint for an oblique muscle contusion. Ben Revere is in left field, Eric Young Jr. is in center field, and Kole Calhoun is in right field Saturday versus Houston.
Jun 10 - 12:23 PM

Cameron Maybin went 3-for-4 with a walk, four steals and four runs scored as the Angels topped the Astros 9-4 on Friday.

Four steals? Four!?! Maybin now has more steals in 161 at-bats this year (17) than he did in 349 at-bats for Detroit last year (15). He seems set to make a run at his career high of 40 from 2011. Mixed leagues should enjoy the ride for as long as he's healthy and batting leadoff.
Jun 10 - 1:34 AM

Angels activated OF Cameron Maybin from the 10-day disabled list.

Shane Robinson was designated for assignment in the corresponding move. Maybin only needed the minimum 10 days to recover from an oblique contusion. He'll draw the start in center field and bat leadoff Friday night against the Twins.
Jun 9 - 7:33 PM

Cameron Maybin (oblique) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Saturday.

He'll have spent just one day longer than the minimum stay on the DL. The Angels could use Maybin, as they're awfully banged up in their outfield right now.
Jun 9 - 4:58 PM

Angels placed OF Cameron Maybin on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique muscle contusion.

His roster spot will be absorbed by Yunel Escobar, who is back after missing three weeks with a strained hamstring. Maybin's stint on the disabled list should be a short one as the Angels are planning to activate him next Friday for their series opener in Houston. It's been a rough week for Angels outfielders with Maybin and Mike Trout (thumb surgery) both landing on the shelf.
Jun 1 - 7:48 PM

Cameron Maybin is out of the Angels' lineup Tuesday due to pain in his side.

Maybin is being evaluated by the club's medical staff. There should be a more official diagnosis at some point Tuesday night. If it's an oblique strain, he will probably be placed on the 10-day disabled list.
