Cameron Maybin collected three RBI and stole a base in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Maybin drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning, and a two-run single in the sixth inning gave the Tigers a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The stolen base was Maybin's first in two games since returning from a sprained thumb, and he's now got five RBI in those two games. Now that he's proven his health, the 29-year-old should move up in the Tigers' lineup after batting ninth Tuesday. Maybin is hitting .325/.397/.397 with 14 stolen bases on the year.

Tigers activated OF Cameron Maybin from the 15-day disabled list.

Maybin faced Jordan Zimmermann (lat) in a simulated game Sunday and apparently looked good enough to force his way back onto the roster. He's in center field and batting second against Henry Owens and the Red Sox on Sunday.

Cameron Maybin (thumb) will take batting practice on Saturday.

It's another step forward for Maybin, who has spent most of the month battling a sprained thumb. If Maybin's BP session goes well, he could start a rehab assignment in the near future. Andrew Romine and Tyler Collins have been sharing center-field duties during his absence.
Aug 20 - 4:55 PM

Cameron Maybin (thumb) took 30 swings off a tee on Thursday.

It's the first time he's swung a bat since going on the disabled list with a Grade 2 left thumb sprain. He'll do some more hitting on Friday. It's looking like Maybin might have a shot to return before the end of the month if he keeps progressing.
Aug 19 - 4:09 PM

Cameron Maybin (thumb) shagged fly balls over the weekend without issue.

"He said he’s been feeling better the last couple of days," manager Brad Ausmus said Sunday. "Which is a good sign. It didn’t bother him to close the glove at all." Maybin should soon resume swinging a bat and could be ready to return from the disabled list next week. He's been out since August 9, retroactive to August 4, with a Grade 2 left thumb sprain.
Aug 15 - 11:50 AM

Tigers placed OF Cameron Maybin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 4, with a Grade 2 left thumb sprain.

Maybin has been bothered by discomfort in his left thumb since last Wednesday and an MRI taken Tuesday morning revealed the Grade 2 sprain. Detroit is hopeful that he will be ready to return from the disabled list when first eligible 10 days from now. Maybin, 29, is batting .325/.394/.398 with two homers and 13 steals in 63 games this season.
Aug 9 - 7:17 PM

Cameron Maybin (thumb) will get an MRI or CT scan on Tuesday.

Maybin will miss his fourth straight game Monday due to a sprained left thumb. He took batting practice before the game, but continues to have issues. "I could still hit. But hitting in BP is not the same as in the game and I was feeling some pain today," said Maybin. "So it'd be smart to get a picture. I was going to try and play through it but just don't think I can, as bad as I want to." More should be known on his status after he goes for tests.

Aug 8 - 8:08 PM

Cameron Maybin (thumb) is aiming to return to the Tigers' starting lineup on Monday.

Maybin sprained his left thumb while making a catch last Wednesday and hasn't played since. "It’s pretty swollen," he said Sunday. "It’s still pretty banged up but I’m going to try to give it a go tomorrow. … I was going to try to play again today but (manager) Brad (Ausmus) said he just wanted to give me a day and then see how it feels tomorrow. If it feels OK, then I’m probably going to play."
Aug 8 - 12:58 PM

Cameron Maybin (thumb) remained out of the Tigers' lineup Sunday.

Cameron Maybin is dealing with an injury to the right side of his rib cage.

A rib popped out and had to be put back in place, per George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press. That explains why Maybin has been absent from the Tigers' starting lineup for the last three games. He did say he's feeling better Tuesday and this doesn't sound like it's going to be a disabled list situation.
Jul 26 - 4:39 PM

Cameron Maybin is absent from the Tigers' starting lineup Monday against the Red Sox.
