Padres manager Bud Black said he'd like Cameron Maybin (wrist) to get around 30 rehab at-bats.

Maybin hit in the cage and on the field before Monday's game and will do the same thing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Assuming it goes well, he'll begin a rehab assignment on Friday. Maybin could return before the end of the month.
May 20 - 10:32 PM

Cameron Maybin (wrist) could begin a rehab assignment Friday.

Maybin was recently cleared to resume hitting activities and hasn't had any setbacks. On the disabled list since April 17, he should be close to making his return. Maybin was hitting just .091/.167/.121 with no home runs prior to the injury but offers plenty of fantasy potential when healthy.
May 19 - 10:06 PM

Cameron Maybin (wrist) hit in the batting cages on Thursday.

It's the first time he's done so since he landed on the disabled list last month with a right wrist impingement. The Padres aren't sure what the next step is for the outfielder, but Maybin said the session went "way, way better" than he expected. "I'm excited," Maybin said. "It's tough watching, but it's also been great watching how great the team has been playing. I'm eager to get back in the mix."
May 16 - 10:06 PM

Cameron Maybin (wrist) is 10-14 days away from resuming baseball activities.

Maybin had the splint removed from his right wrist last Friday, but he still needs to regain his strength and range of motion. The outfielder was hitting just .091/.167/.121 with no homers and no steals prior to the injury but offers plenty of fantasy potential when he's healthy.
May 6 - 7:38 PM

Cameron Maybin had the splint removed from his right wrist on Friday.

Maybin has been on the disabled list since May 16 with an impingement of his right wrist. The injury likely contributed to his slow start, as he was hitting .091/.167/.121 with no homers, no steals and one RBI through his first 10 games. The Padres have yet to disclose a clear timetable for his return.
May 3 - 7:35 PM

Cameron Maybin (wrist) received a cortisone shot Monday.

Maybin is still wearing a splint on his right wrist and will wait to see how the shot responds before testing the wrist out. He's been on the disabled list for nearly a week but is not expected to be ready for activation when first eligible.
Apr 22 - 7:33 PM

Cameron Maybin will wear a splint on his right wrist for about a week.

Maybin was placed on the disabled list earlier this week with a right wrist impingement. It's unlikely that he'll be ready to return when he's first eligible.
Apr 19 - 5:33 PM

Cameron Maybin (wrist) could spend more than the minimum 15 days on the disabled list.

Maybin has been diagnosed with an impingement of his right wrist, an injury that he's dealt with off and on all season. He's also had past wrist issues. The outfielder will be shut down for a bit and could be fitted with a splint.
Apr 17 - 8:27 PM

Padres placed OF Cameron Maybin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 16, with a right wrist impingement.

Maybin has dealt with wrist issues over the past two seasons, and obviously the Padres felt it was best to hold him out for at least a couple weeks after his most recent flare-up. Chris Denorfia and Will Venable should handle center field while Maybin is sidelined.
Apr 17 - 6:44 PM

Padres manager Bud Black indicated that Cameron Maybin was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup due to a recurring right wrist injury.

Maybin has dealt with wrist issues in each of the past two seasons, so this isn't a promising development. However, it does provide some context for his early struggles. The 26-year-old is just 3-for-33 (.091) to begin the season. It's not clear when he'll be ready to return.
Apr 17 - 9:12 AM

Cameron Maybin was hitless in three at-bats Thursday night against the Dodgers.

Maybin is just 2-for-27 (.074) through eight games this season. The 26-year-old finished strong last season and offers plenty of speed, so we wouldn't overreact to some early struggles. This might be the best time to buy low in fantasy leagues.
Apr 12 - 2:32 AM

Cameron Maybin (back) went through full drills Wednesday and is expected to return to the lineup Thursday or Friday.

Maybin has been nursing lower back pain after dealing with more wrist issues earlier this spring. He's batted .350/.381/.550 in Cactus League play when on the field.
Mar 13 - 6:21 PM

Cameron Maybin will sit out the next couple days with lower back pain.

Maybin has also dealt with more wrist issues this spring. He's stung the ball when healthy, though, batting .350/.381/.550 over seven contests.
Mar 11 - 1:21 PM

Cameron Maybin went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

Maybin dealt with more wrist issues early on in spring training, but he's now hitting .412 over his first 17 at-bats. He should be a nice speed option again in fantasy leagues this season, but we're still waiting for that power potential to come around.
