Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homer in Saturday's loss to the Reds.
Maybin hit the home run off of Jason Marquis in the fifth inning. It was his fourth tater of the season. He added a ninth-inning RBI single to finish with three RBI, but his offensive work was not enough to lead the Braves to a win. Maybin wound up 2-for-3 on the night. For the season, he's batting .209/.320/.488. The average is abysmal, but for lack of better options, the Braves will probably keep giving him regular at-bats. May 2 - 11:50 PM

Cameron Maybin hit his third home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Mets.

Maybin's solo blast in the seventh inning was the only offense for the Braves. He finished 1-for-5 with two strikeouts. Maybin now has three home runs through 11 games, a nice power display, but he's hitting just .147/.216/.412 with 12 strikeouts in 34 at-bats. The good news is that the Braves don't have any better options, so he'll stay in the lineup -- and likely near the top of the lineup -- on a daily basis.
Apr 21 - 9:56 PM

Cameron Maybin drew a walk and belted a solo homer in Wednesday's loss to the Marlins.

Drawing the start in center field, Maybin took Dan Haren deep to left-center field in the sixth inning to get the scoring going for the Braves. Kelly Johnson added a solo shot of his own, but the Marlins coasted to an easy victory in this one. Maybin has been splitting playing time with Eric Young Jr. so far and has just three hits in his first 18 at-bats, but two of them have left the yard.
Apr 15 - 2:43 PM

Cameron Maybin is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Marlins.

Maybin was hitless in three at-bats Monday and is just 2-for-15 with five strikeouts to begin the season. We're hoping the Braves give him regular playing time, but he needs to produce. Eric Young, Jr. will start in center field Tuesday while Kelly Johnson will play left.
Apr 14 - 3:13 PM

Cameron Maybin homered and stole a base in Friday's win over the Mets.

Maybin went deep off Jon Niese to lead off the game and has now equaled his home run total (one) from all of last season. Eric Young, Jr. may also see some playing time in center field, but the Braves should be doing all they can to give at-bats to Maybin, who still might have some untapped upside. While injuries limited him to just 109 games from 2013-2014, he's still just 28 years old.
Apr 11 - 12:22 AM

Cameron Maybin is starting his second straight game in center field Friday.

Eric Young Jr. got the call in center for the first two games, but now Maybin has manned the position for two straight. The two could continue to share the position, but ultimately we see Maybin taking over, with Young possibly getting more starts in left field.
Apr 10 - 3:56 PM

Cameron Maybin is making his first start with the Braves on Wednesday, playing center field and batting eighth against the Marlins.

Maybin got three at-bats off the bench in the first two games, but this is his first start since Sunday's trade from San Diego. He could work his way into being the team's regular center fielder. A.J. Pierzynski is also getting a start Wednesday over Christian Bethancourt.

Braves acquired OF Cameron Maybin, OF Carlos Quentin, RHP Matt Wisler, OF Jordan Paroubeck and the 41st pick in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft from the Padres for RHP Craig Kimbrel and OF Melvin Upton.

Maybin seems to have found a golden opportunity to secure regular at-bats, and could deliver mixed league fantasy value in Atlanta with his speed (provided he can hit enough to remain in the lineup). He should be an interesting FAAB target on Sunday.
Apr 5 - 6:42 PM

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Cameron Maybin, Ben Revere and Aaron Hill are among the high-priced names being made available for trade in the final days of spring training.

Maybin is buried on the depth chart in the Padres outfield, Hill has been relegated to a reserve role with the Diamondbacks and Revere is being moved to a corner outfield spot in Philadelphia. Any of the trio could be upgrades to other teams around the league, though as Rosenthal notes it's difficult to move significant salary at this point of the season.
Apr 4 - 12:11 PM

Cameron Maybin went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run double in Monday's Cactus League game with the White Sox.

Maybin could have had another RBI on the fifth-inning double but Alexi Amarista was thrown out at home. The 27-year-old has missed most of the last two seasons with injuries, but has bounced back with a strong spring showing. He's batting .324 (11-for-34) so far. Maybin has been pushed to the bench after the Padres remodeled their outfield with three trades, but he may be traded during the season and get an opportunity to play regularly.
Mar 23 - 7:10 PM

Cameron Maybin blasted a solo homer off Matt Garza as the Padres fell to the Brewers in Cactus League action on Tuesday.

He finished the afternoon 1-for-3, whiffing in his other two trips to the plate. While the Padres went out and retooled their entire outfield this winter, Maybin was left in the dust and is now staring at sparse playing time as a reserve outfielder. It will take an injury or a trade for him to be mixed league relevant this season.
Mar 17 - 11:08 PM

Cameron Maybin was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to an unspecified health issue.

Padres manager Bud Black didn't want to elaborate on the details but did say of Maybin that "he'll be all right." Expect the outfielder to play at some point over the weekend.

Padres reinstated OF Cameron Maybin from the restricted list.

Maybin is back with the Padres after completing a 25-game suspension for testing positive for amphetamines. The 27-year-old is batting .247/.286/.368 with one home run, nine RBI, and three stolen bases in 62 games with the Padres this season.

Cameron Maybin will begin playing in minor league games on Friday with Triple-A El Paso.

Maybin is currently serving a 25 game suspension for testing positive for amphetamines, and is allowed to play in five minor league rehab games before rejoining the Padres on August 20. He could be a boost to teams in desperate need of speed down the stretch, provided he finds regular playing time in the Padres outfield.
Fri, Aug 15, 2014 07:05:00 PM

Cameron Maybin is eligible to play in five minor league games before returning to the Padres on August 20.

Maybin will head to Arizona this week to work out. The outfielder was suspended 25 games on July 23 for testing positive for amphetamines after opening the season with a weak .247/.286/.368 batting line in his first 62 tilts.
