Maybin is currently serving a 25 game suspension for testing positive for amphetamines, and is allowed to play in five minor league rehab games before rejoining the Padres on August 20. He could be a boost to teams in desperate need of speed down the stretch, provided he finds regular playing time in the Padres outfield.
Aug 15 - 7:05 PM

Cameron Maybin is eligible to play in five minor league games before returning to the Padres on August 20.

Maybin will head to Arizona this week to work out. The outfielder was suspended 25 games on July 23 for testing positive for amphetamines after opening the season with a weak .247/.286/.368 batting line in his first 62 tilts.
Aug 9 - 5:17 PM

Cameron Maybin has been suspended 25 games by Major League Baseball for testing positive for amphetamines.

It was Maybin's second positive test as you're only given a warning and eventually more testing after testing positive the first time. Maybin is batting just .247/.286/.368 over 62 games for the Padres this season. Jeff Francoeur has replaced him on the roster.
Jul 23 - 3:08 PM

He finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and also drew a walk. His RBI knock off Mike Bolsinger in the fourth inning got the Padres on the board. He has looked good at the plate in his limited time this season, hitting .273/.316/.413 with a homer, six RBI and two stolen bases in 49 games.
Jun 29 - 8:48 PM

Cameron Maybin went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Mariners.

Maybin tripled in a run in the seventh inning and later came around to score in what turned out to be a four-run inning for the Padres. The 27-year-old outfielder has been in a bit of a funk offensively, as his slash line is down to .279/.318/.418. He had gotten off to a hot start after being activated from the disabled list in late April.
Jun 19 - 9:26 PM

Cameron Maybin singled in Chase Headley in the bottom of the 11th to give the Padres a 4-3 win over the Nationals on Saturday.

Maybin also doubled in Headley in the fourth, marking the first time this season that he'd driven in a baserunner (he had one homer and one RBI in his previous 96 at-bats). The Padres had a 2-0 lead at that point, but coughed it up by allowing three runs in the seventh. They went on to tie it in the ninth on Yonder Alonso's homer off Rafael Soriano and then win it against Craig Stammen two innings later.

May 31 - 2:42 PM

Maybin has been a great surprise for the Padres, hitting .300 with seven doubles in 21 games since returning from a ruptured biceps tendon that was originally expected to sideline him into June. He's not going to be worth picking up in shallow mixed leagues unless he begins showing some home run power, but he makes the Padres a lot better when he's sporting a decent OBP and playing his usual fine center field defense.
