Dodgers signed C Jesus Flores to a minor league contract with a spring training invite.

Flores was non-tendered by the Nationals in late November after batting just .213/.248/.329 with six home runs and 26 RBI last season. He also threw out just 15 percent (nine out of 60) attempted basestealers. He'll function as depth behind A.J. Ellis and Tim Federowicz.

Nationals non-tendered C Jesus Flores.

With Wilson Ramos and Kurt Suzuki handling the catching duties, Flores appears to be the odd man out. The 27-year-old had a disappointing season, hitting .213/.248/.329 with six homers and 26 RBI in 2012.

Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com hears that the Mets are eyeing Jesus Flores and Carlos Maldonado of the Nationals in their search for catching help.

Flores is a former Mets farmhand that the Nats picked up in the Rule 5 Draft. He's batted .241/.289/.375 over parts of five seasons with Washington. Either he or Maldonado would likely be used in a platoon role with Josh Thole.

Jesus Flores launched a three-run homer Tuesday night in the Nationals' 4-1 defeat of the Braves.

The critical blast off Paul Maholm in the fifth inning was his only hit in three trips to the plate. Flores is batting just .218 on the season with four homers and 22 RBI, and has been losing at-bats to Kurt Suzuki over the past few weeks. They're both weak fantasy options.

Jesus Flores (back) is in the Nationals' starting lineup Tuesday against the Mets.

Flores was rested each of the last two days after receiving an anti-inflammatory injection in his back on Saturday. However, the Nationals are encouraged enough with his progress to insert him back into the lineup.

Jesus Flores (back) is out of the Nationals' lineup again Monday.

Flores has been battling a sore back recently and received an anti-inflammatory injection on Saturday. He's feeling better, but the Nats won't start him until he proves he can take batting practice. Sandy Leon is starting behind the dish Monday.

Jesus Flores went 0-for-3 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader in his return to action.

Flores exited Friday's game with lower back stiffness, but it clearly was no big deal. The backstop is batting just .128/.167/.128 this month.

Jesus Flores left Friday's game against the Braves in the seventh inning with lower back stiffness.

Sandy Leon pinch-hit for him in the seventh inning and played the rest of the game behind the plate. Nationals manager Davey Johnson thinks Flores will be OK, so consider him day-to-day for now.

Jesus Flores went 2-for-3 and drove home the Nationals' lone run Saturday in a loss to the Marlins.

Flores delivered an RBI single off Mark Buehrle in the fifth inning, scoring Ian Desmond and tying the game at 1-1. While Flores doesn't possess the same dynamic talent as Wilson Ramos, he has done a serviceable job as his fill-in, hitting .238 with three homers and 16 RBI since being forced into regular duty. Flores remains a playable option for those in deep two-catcher leagues.

Jesus Flores cranked a solo home run off of Brandon Beachy in the fifth inning on Saturday, breaking a scoreless tie and helping to lead the Nationals to a 2-0 victory over the Braves.

Flores finished the game 1-for-2 plus a walk, and is now hitting a solid .268 with two homers and nine RBI on the season. While his bat isn’t as explosive as Wilson Ramos’, he has had consistent at-bats and provided some important production at the bottom of the lineup. He’s locked into regular playing time and makes for a solid option for those in two catcher formats.

Jesus Flores (hamstring) is aiming to return to the Nationals' starting lineup on Friday.

Flores has been sidelined since leaving Sunday's game against the Braves with tightness in his right hamstring. He's batting just .263/.299/.350 but should resume serving as the Nationals' primary catcher Friday night.

Jesus Flores (hamstring) is not in Monday's lineup.

Flores is being bothered by mild tightness in his right hamstring. Carlos Maldonado will get the start behind the plate on Monday afternoon against the Marlins.

Jesus Flores was diagnosed with a tight right hamstring.

The Nationals say the injury is not serious, which is spectacular news for a team that is already without its starting and third-string catchers. There's a decent chance Flores won't miss any time.

Jesus Flores left Sunday night's game against the Braves with an undisclosed injury.

The Nats are already without their No. 1 and No. 3 catchers with long-term injuries, so losing Flores would be a crushing blow. He was 3-for-4 with two RBI tonight before being replaced by Carlos Maldonado.
