Single-A Myrtle Beach's Eric Campbell homered in a third straight game on Saturday.
Campbell and Jordan Schafer must have been working out together during their long suspensions. Both have displayed very good power since returning about two weeks ago, and Campbell has driven in 12 runs in his last five games. Sun, Jun 8, 2008 03:13:00 AM

Eric Campbell finally made his season debut on Monday and went 2-for-5 for Single-A Myrtle Beach.

The Braves have been extremely quiet about the reasons behind Campbell's absence, but it was almost certainly a disclipinary action that kept him off the field for the first 7 1/2 weeks of the minor league season. The former top prospect has a lot of work to do to rebuild his stock.

Single-A Myrtle Beach's Eric Campbell went 3-for-7 with his 12th and 13th homers Saturday.

That only ups his average to .188 for the month. Campbell has been a real disappointment this year, but part of that is due to a thumb injury and it seems like his power is still there. He's batting .223/.299/.400 in 265 at-bats.

Eric Campbell had his second two-homer game of the week Thursday for Single-A Myrtle Beach.

Campbell is showing impressive power in an environment that surpresses it. He has nine homers in 163 at-bats, and he's batting .415 over his last nine games.

Eric Campbell went 3-for-5 with a pair of homers and four RBI for Single-A Myrtle Beach on Sunday.

After a weak first half of June, Campbell has 18 hits, three of them homers, in his last eight games. He's batting .247/.321/.432 overall, but part of that was due to a thumb injury and he's playing in a great environment for pitchers.

Eric Campbell returned to Single-A Myrtle Beach's lineup on Monday and went 1-for-4.

The third baseman missed nearly six weeks with a sprained ligament in his left thumb.

Braves prospect Eric Campbell, out since April 12 with a thumb injury, might return next week.

Campbell was 5-for-28 for Single-A Myrtle Beach before suffering a sprained ligament in his left thumb.

Eric Campbell went 2-for-4 with a walkoff homer for Single-A Myrtle Beach on Sunday.

If Campbell spends all year at Myrtle Beach, he may fall short of last year's total of 22 homers. However, that'd be mostly due to the ballpark. The power is there for him to eventually hit 30 homers per year in the majors.

Eric Campbell, who played mostly second base in the Hawaiian Winter League, was back at third for Single-A Myrtle Beach on Thursday.

Indications are that he's going to stay there. The Braves wanted to try Campbell at second because they thought it might speed his arrival to the majors.

Eric Campbell went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Honolulu of the Hawaiian Winter League on Tuesday.

Campbell is 7-for-20 with four doubles, but more interesting is that he's played second base in four of his five games. It looks like the Braves are going to try to find out whether he can be the long-term replacement for Marcus Giles. The 21-year-old won't be an option in 2007 and perhaps not in 2008, but he'd be an even better prospect if he could play a capable second.

2004 second-round pick Eric Campbell homered twice and doubled Thursday for low Single-A Rome.

Campbell continues to show very good power for a 20-year-old. He's batting .289/.326/.506 with 16 homers and 11 steals in 342 at-bats. That he has just 15 walks all year is disturbing, but with 53 whiffs, he's not striking out as much as the typical young power hitter.

Eric Campbell went 2-for-5 with a grand slam Monday for low Single-A Rome.

Campbell, a 2004 second-round pick, is batting .294/.333/.506 with 10 steals in 12 attempts. Assuming that Wilson Betemit eventually finds a home at another position or another team, Campbell could be the eventual replacement for Chipper Jones at third base for the Braves. He's a few years away, but he has plenty of potential.

Eric Campbell homered, doubled and walked for short-season Single-A Danville yesterday.

The Braves weren't exactly desperate for another quality young third baseman, but it looks like they have one. Campbell, who turned 20 this month, is batting .321/.392/.654 with 15 steals in 59 games for Danville.
