Dodgers acquired INF/OF Elliott Johnson from the Rangers for cash considerations.
Johnson would have made $900,000 from the Rangers if he had made the team. Johnson's hit just .194/.350/.290 in 31 at-bats this spring. Those numbers aren't too far off of his career numbers, but he offers some speed and versatility. Mar 31 - 1:02 PM

Rangers signed INF/OF Elliot Johnson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Johnson made just 20 plate appearances last season at the major league level and he owns a rough .215/.269/.316 career batting line. He seems doubtful to land a spot on the Rangers' Opening Day roster.

Indians designated INF/OF Elliot Johnson for assignment.

There was no good reason for the Indians to keep Johnson coming out of spring training, and it was really surprising to see him stick after Michael Bourn and Jason Giambi came off the DL. Friday's ugly game defensively at second base finally got him the boot after he went 2-for-19 in seven games.

Indians purchased the contract of INF Elliot Johnson from Triple-A Columbus.

Johnson had been told he'd made the club earlier Saturday, and the roster move makes it official. Infielder David Adams was removed from the 40-man roster to make room for Johnson.

Indians general manager Chris Antonetti announced Saturday that Elliot Johnson has won a bench spot on the team's Opening Day roster.

The 30-year-old utilityman can attribute that roster spot to a strong Cactus League season where he slashed .350/.381/.650 with a pair of homers and eight RBI in 40 at-bats. He holds no fantasy value outside of insanely deep AL-only formats.

Elliot Johnson went 2-for-2 with a home run as the Indians defeated the Royals 12-6 on Thursday.

Johnson hit a solo shot off of Everett Teaford in the eighth inning. A non-roster invitee, Johnson is now hitting .429 in 21 Cactus League at-bats. The Indians, though, may want to pay more attention to his career .592 OPS.

Elliot Johnson blasted a two-run home run for the Indians on Thursday.

It was Johnson's only hit in two at-bats, but it was a big one. It tied the game up at two apiece and become the first of four consecutive innings in which the Indians posted a crooked number. Johnson, a non-roster invitee, is trying to make the team as a utilityman.
