Kevin Kouzmanoff went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs batted in as the Rangers beat the Mariners on Tuesday.
Kouzmanoff, filling in for the injured Adrian Beltre, belted a solo shot off of Blake Beavan in the second inning, going back-to-back with Prince Fielder. Kouzmanoff knocked in two additional runs with a double in the eighth inning, providing some insurance. No one is expecting him to hit as well as Beltre, but he's doing a good job of it anyway in the early going, now batting .450 over 23 plate appearances. Apr 15 - 10:53 PM

Kevin Kouzmanoff went 2-for-3 with a double in Sunday's win over the Astros.

Kouzmanoff had a strong spring and has carried that over since he was called up on Wednesday. Kouzmanoff has a hit in each of his four games, batting .417 (5-for-12) with an RBI and a run scored. With Adrian Beltre officially placed on the disabled list, Kouzmanoff should get most of the starts at the hot corner over the next few weeks.

Kouzmanoff was unable to gain an Opening Day roster spot even though he crushed the ball to the tune of a .370/.443/.593 batting line this spring. He'll provide depth at third base while Adrian Beltre (quad) is banged up.

Kouzmanoff batted .370/.443/.593 as a non-roster invitee this spring but was sent down in favor of Jim Adduci. The 32-year-old signed a minor league contract with the club in December.

Kouzmanoff took Charlie Furbush deep in the sixth inning, his second of the spring. Kouzmanoff has quietly had a great spring, as he is now hitting .360 in 50 at-bats. He likely has won a spot on the Rangers' bench, but nothing has been announced yet.

The issue is being called a "sore back." Kouzmanoff hasn't appeared in the major leagues since 2011. He signed a minor league contract with Texas in December.

Kouzmanoff, now 32, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011 and played exclusively with the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate this past season. He's organization depth at this point.

In just 20 at-bats this spring, Kouzmanoff has collected three homers and three doubles. The Marlins weren't planning on him winning a roster spot, but they might make room for him if this keeps up.

Pinch-hitter Kevin Kouzmanoff delivered his second homer of the spring Sunday in the Marlins' 6-4 win over the Mets.

Kouz has three hits in eight at-bats, all of them going for extra bases. The Marlins signed Placido Polanco to start at third base, but his back is already acting up. Kouzmanoff might be the team's next best option at the position.

The deal includes an invite to spring training. Kouzmanoff, 31, spent all of 2012 in the Royals' farm system but could push for a platoon role with Greg Dobbs in Miami. The Marlins have also signed right-hander Jordan Smith to a minor league deal.

The Royals have demoted Kevin Kouzmanoff from Triple-A Omaha to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Kouzmanoff, who will turn 31 later this month, batted just .262/.301/.352 with no homers for Omaha. He spent much of last season in the minors, as well, and is obviously not close to returning to the big leagues.

Royals reassigned INF Kevin Kouzmanoff to minor league camp.

Kouzmanoff is still a slick defender, but the Royals didn't really have much room for him on their major league roster. He went 3-for-10 in the Cactus League this spring.

Royals signed 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff to a minor league contract.

The deal has a maximum value of $1 million and an additional $300,000 is available through incentives. According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, Kouzmanoff has the ability to opt out of the contract if he is not in the majors by May 1. He is expected to be used as third base insurance for Mike Moustakas in spring training.

According to's Jordan Bastian, the Indians have mild interest in free agent Kevin Kouzmanoff.

Bastian says the Indians were only "checking in" and that their level of interest, for now, is very minimal. Kouzmanoff posted a weak .235/.284/.372 batting line over 257 plate appearances this past season between the A's and Rockies. The 30-year-old infielder will likely have to settle for a one-year deal.

Kouzmanoff, 30, batted .235/.284/.372 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and a .656 OPS over 257 plate appearances this season between the Rockies and Athletics. The Pirates would like to find a backup plan in case Pedro Alvarez flames out again, but Kouzmanoff is believed to be seeking a starting job at the moment. That's probably wishful thinking on his part, though.
