Orioles reassigned OF Chris Dickerson to minor league camp.
Dickerson had a decent camp, particularly in the power department (four homers in 38 at-bats) but didn't do enough to crack the O's Opening Day roster. The 34-year-old journeyman hasn't played in the big leagues since 2014 and he's running out of chances to make it back. Thu, Mar 30, 2017 06:06:00 PM

Chris Dickerson hit his fourth spring homer in his lone at-bat off the bench Thursday against the Tigers.

In an alternate universe, a more durable Dickerson is finishing up his career as a decent regular corner outfielder and spending the next couple of years as a bench player before heading off to retirement. In this one, the soon-to-be 35-year-old has had more than 200 major league at-bats in a season just once (with the Reds in 2009) and hasn't played in the majors at all since 2014. He's had a nice spring, going 10-for-38 with a .996 OPS, but the Orioles aren't going to carry him and it's doubtful he'll soon wind up with a bench job elsewhere.

Chris Dickerson is expected to miss a few days with a sore left shoulder.

It doesn't sound like something that will keep him out of action for long. Dickerson, 34, hasn't played in the majors since 2014 and will likely serve as minor league depth this year.

Dickerson played for the Orioles' Double-A team last year. The 34-year-old has spent brief periods in the majors with five different teams over the last decade while hitting .257/.335/.395 with 17 homers in 355 games. He's organizational depth at this stage of his career.

Chris Dickerson left Thursday's game versus the Mariners with an apparent leg injury.

Dickerson tweaked something in the second inning while tracking down a Kendrys Morales double in the second and was removed in the third. He dealt with a hamstring injury earlier this month, so it's possible he aggravated that ailment. The Tribe will update his status shortly.
