Mariners sent LHP Cesar Jimenez outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

The move clears him from the 40-man roster. Jimenez, 27, has a 5.40 ERA over 48 1/3 innings in the majors and will continue to serve as minor league depth.

Mariners purchased the contract of LHP Cesar Jimenez from Triple-A Tacoma.

Jimenez registered a 4.06 ERA and 81/35 K/BB ratio in 71 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He probably won't be used in many high-pressure situations.

Padres sent LHP Cesar Jimenez outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Jimenez allowed 20 hits and 12 earned runs in 11 innings for the Mariners this spring. The 26-year-old could struggle to climb his way back to the majors.

Mariners transferred Cesar Jimenez to the 60-day disabled list.

Jimenez has been out since the spring with shoulder and biceps tendinitis and is not close to returning to the Mariners bullpen.

Mariners placed LHP Cesar Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis, retroactive to March 29.

Manager Don Wakamatsu wants Jimenez to be able to come into a game for two innings of relief, but his arm isn't ready yet. Seattle won't have a left-hander in its bullpen at the start of the season.

Cesar Jimenez made his spring debut Monday and pitched a scoreless inning versus the Dodgers.

Jimenez had been out all spring with shoulder tendinitis, but he's still very much in the running for a spot in Seattle's pen.

Cesar Jimenez pitched three scoreless innings Wednesday in his spot start against the Rangers.

Jimenez hadn't gone longer than an inning in any appearance in five weeks, so he wasn't going to be left in for long today. However, since he was effective in striking out four batters, he could be in line for a couple of more starts.

Mariners recalled LHP Cesar Jimenez from Triple-A Tacoma.

Jimenez replaces Felix Hernandez on the Mariners' roster, but will work out of the bullpen after posting a 3.55 ERA and 47/8 K/BB ratio in 38 relief innings at Triple-A.

Cesar Jimenez remains unscored upton in the VWL after pitching two innings on Friday.

He has a 10/1 K/BB ratio in 9 2/3 innings of work. 2007 was essentially a lost year for Jimenez, who suffered a stress fracture in his elbow in March. He'll probably open 2008 in Triple-A, and the Mariners still have to decide whether he's a better bet as a starter or as a reliever.

Cesar Jimenez, on the DL since the start of the season with a stress fracture in his elbow, pitched two scoreless innings for the Rookie AZL Mariners on Friday.

Jimenez has made nice progress from March surgery, opening up the possibility that he could pitch for the Mariners in September.

Mariners placed LHP Cesar Jimenez on the 60-day disabled list with a stress fracture in his elbow.

Jimenez will miss most or all of the season after surgery last month.

Cesar Jimenez will have surgery after being diagnosed with a stress fracture at the tip of his elbow.

The 22-year-old Jimenez wasn't going to make the Mariners coming out of spring training, but he could have been a factor out of the pen later this season. That now appears unlikely. The surgery figures to cost him several months.

After leaving Thursday's game with elbow pain, Cesar Jimenez underwent an MRI.

It sounds like the injury may be serious. "He was in the competition [for a roster spot]," manager Mike Hargrove said. "I don't know how realistic his chances were, but he was in the mix. He was throwing the ball well."

In his first career start, Cesar Jimenez allowed five runs in four innings Monday against the A's.

He had an 18.90 ERA in three relief appearanes, so this qualifies as an improvement. The 21-year-old Jimenez might get another start this weekend. He projects best as a reliever.
