Anthony Swarzak (ribs) will have his rehab delayed a couple of days after he had his wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday.

Swarzak fractured two ribs in January during an off-field incident with teammates and didn't appear in a Grapefruit League this spring. However, it shouldn't be long before he's ready to join the Twins' bullpen.

Samuel Deduno isn't ready to go after leaving his last outing with left eye irritation, and the Twins decided to go with Swarzak over Brian Duensing. "Swarzak is starting," Gardenhire said. "We didn't have to use him yesterday, so he's the most rested. So we'll run him out there and however innings it takes, and then we'll ad-lib from there."

Swarzak wound up missing around three weeks with a right rotator cuff strain. The right-hander had a 4.43 ERA in 69 innings before being placed on the disabled list. He will resume his role in middle relief.

It was the first time he had thrown from a mound since landing on the DL last month with a right rotator cuff strain. Swarzak should be able to begin a rehab assignment soon, with a return later this month looking likely if he can avoid a setback.
