Nationals released RHP Christian Garcia.
Garcia shows good stuff when he's managed to stay healthy, but unfortunately that hasn't been often. He was on Triple-A Syracuse's disabled list at the time the Nats cut him loose. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined. Jun 25 - 12:22 PM

Christian Garcia is entering camp healthy after missing nearly all of last season due to forearm and hamstring injuries.

Garcia has always had ability, which he showed in his brief time with the Nats in 2012, posting a 2.13 ERA and 15/2 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings. He's never been able to stay healthy, but he'll make for an intriguing relief arm for Washington when he's able to toe the rubber.

Nationals activated RHP Christian Garcia from the 60-day disabled list.

Garcia battled multiple injuries throughout the 2013 season. He's expected to be fully healthy next spring and should be a member of the Nats' bullpen in 2014.

Christian Garcia (arm, hamstring, shoulder) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Harrisburg on Friday.

Garcia, who was placed on the disabled list at the end of March, has dealt with countless setbacks in the recovery process, the most recent of which being a hamstring injury in July. The 28-year-old impressed with the Nats in 2012, posting a 2.13 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 15/2 K/BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings, but has yet to take the field with the team this season.

Christian Garcia injured his hamstring during a rehab appearance Tuesday at Triple-A Syracuse.

The guy just can't catch a break. Garcia has been on the disabled list since spring training because of a partial tendon tear in his forearm and later developed some shoulder issues. There is no longer a timetable for his return to the Nationals' bullpen.

Christian Garcia (shoulder, forearm) has been shut down from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse.

Garcia has been dealing with shoulder issues and is expected to receive treatment and be rested as a precautionary measure. The Nationals want Garcia to make four or five straight rehab outings without any problems before returning from the disabled list. Garcia has yet to pitch at the major league level this season due to a partial tendon tear in his forearm. He has a 2.57 ERA and eight strikeouts in seven innings over his first five rehab appearances.

The move clears a spot for Wednesday's starter, Ross Ohlendorf, on the active roster. Garcia has yet to pitch for the Nationals this season due to a partial tendon tear in his forearm, but he has a 2.57 ERA and eight strikeouts in seven innings over his first five rehab appearances between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse.

Christian Garcia (forearm) has been moved up to Triple-A Syracuse to continue his rehab.

Garcia allowed one earned run while striking out four over four innings for Double-A Harrisburg. Assuming he can avoid setbacks, he should join the Nationals' bullpen before long.

Christian Garcia (forearm) tossed two scoreless innings Wednesday in a rehab appearance at Double-A Harrisburg.

Christian Garcia (forearm) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend with Double-A Harrisburg.

Garcia has been shut down since the early part of spring training with a partial tendon tear in his right forearm, but he's ready to return to game action. The Nationals were planning to stretch him out as a starter prior to the injury, but he'll pitch in relief for the time being.

Christian Garcia (forearm) has been throwing from a mound and will begin incorporating curveballs on Thursday.

He'll then throw live batting practice after that before heading out on a rehab assignment, though it's not clear when he'll be ready for that. The Nats were planning on stretching Garcia out as a starter prior to his forearm injury, and they still might, but it depends on what the big club needs by the time the righty is healthy.

Christian Garcia threw from 60 feet Wednesday and said afterwards that his forearm "feels great."

It's the second time he's played catch since suffering a partially torn tendon in his right forearm. Garcia is rebuilding his arm strength and hopes to be back on the mound by the end of the month. The Nationals are still planning to stretch the righty out as a starter once he's healthy.

Christian Garcia (forearm) played a successful game of catch on Monday morning.

Garcia basically has to restart his spring throwing routine, so he's not going to be available for the first couple weeks of the 2013 regular season. He was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 24.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said that Christian Garcia (forearm) could be cleared to throw as soon as Monday.

Garcia is currently in shutdown mode due to a partial tendon tear in his right forearm. Johnson would like to see him be stretched out as a starting pitcher, but they'll build his workload carefully to avoid a setback.
