Patton has been sidelined for the past month because of a sprained ankle. The lefty will return to being one of Buck Showalter's primary left-handed weapons out of the pen.

Patton will make one or two more instructional league appearances before rejoining the Orioles bullpen later this week. He has been sidelined for the past month because of a sprained ankle.

Troy Patton (ankle) is scheduled to throw live batting practice for the first time Friday.

Patton tossed a successful bullpen session Monday and will throw another Wednesday. The right-hander is on track to return to the Orioles' bullpen in about a week.

He'll have another bullpen session Wednesday. It's not clear what the next step is after that for Patton, but he could be ready to rejoin the Orioles' bullpen.

He'll throw from a flat mound Friday, which will be the first time since landing on the DL that he's pushed off a rubber. The Orioles won't provide a timetable for Patton until he throws from a full mound.

Good news. He's expected to resume throwing on Thursday and should be able to rejoin the Orioles' bullpen at some point in September if all goes well.

Orioles placed LHP Troy Patton the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right ankle.

Patton rolled the ankle earlier this week while walking to his car in a parking garage. He told reporters that he will be ready for activation once his 15 days are up.

Patton rolled the ankle recently, and apparently the O's think he'll need a couple weeks of down time. He'll be replaced on the roster by J.C. Romero, who was acquired via trade Monday.

MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli expects Troy Patton and Zach Phillips to make the Orioles' Opening Day roster.

Patton is out of options and would be exposed to waivers if he doesn't make the team. Phillips' bullpen spot is looking pretty secure after an impressive spring, and could be used as a long reliever if needed.
