Twins signed OF Wilkin Ramirez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Ramirez spent time in the majors with the Twins back in 2013, when he hit a serviceable .272/.302/.370 in 81 at-bats. He spent most of 2014 at Double-A. It's unlikely that Ramirez will see significant time with the Twins next season. Should he crack the Opening Day roster, it will be as a backup outfielder. Dec 23 - 2:58 PM

Wilkin Ramirez is currently ahead of schedule in his recovery from a fractured left tibia.

Ramirez sustained the injury when he fouled a pitch off his leg in late August. He was initially ruled out from playing in the Dominican Winter League until January, but it now appears he could be on track to enjoy much more of that season. Any additional at-bats that he can get over the Winter should increase his chances of cracking the Twins roster next spring.
