Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Monday that outfielder Wilkin Ramirez will make the Opening Day roster.

Ramirez, a non-roster invitee, is hitting .415 (17-for-41) with seven doubles, three RBI and two stolen bases this spring. The 27-year-old still needs to be added to the 40-man roster, but he's expected to serve as a backup outfielder for Minnesota.

Wilkin Ramirez went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles versus the Yankees on Friday.

He's now hitting .405. Ramirez is hoping the Twins decide to carry a fifth outfielder rather than a sixth infielder. Alternatively, they could still send down Aaron Hicks and make Ramirez their fourth outfielder. That seems highly unlikely, though.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Wednesday that non-roster invitee Wilkin Ramirez is sidelined due to a minor knee injury.

Ramirez hasn't played since Saturday, but he shouldn't be out of action for long. The 27-year-old outfielder batted .267 with 15 homers and a .767 OPS in 98 games with the Twins' Triple-A affiliate last year and will likely serve as organizational depth in 2013.
