Rangers released LHP Rafael Perez.
Perez, 31, posted a 7.36 ERA over his first four relief appearances at Triple-A Round Rock. He was once a pretty nice reliever for the Indians but has battled shoulder issues in recent years. Still, someone will give him a shot. Apr 17 - 6:37 PM

Rangers signed LHP Rafael Perez to a minor league contract.

The deal includes an invitation to spring training. The 31-year-old left-hander spent the entire 2013 season in the minor leagues, posting a 2.60 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 32/8 K/BB ratio over 34 2/3 innings between Triple-A Rochester and Double-A Portland. Once one of the better left-handed relievers in the game, it's a nice low-risk, high-reward signing for the Rangers.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Rafael Perez has drawn some interest and could sign on with someone soon.

It will surely be a minor league deal. Perez spent all of 2013 in the minors but pitched well, posting a 2.60 ERA in 29 relief appearances between Double- and Triple-A. Another year removed from shoulder surgery, he figures to make it back to the majors in 2014.

Red Sox signed LHP Rafael Perez to a minor league contract.

Perez is still building strength following shoulder surgery, so Ian Browne of MLB.com hears that he will likely report to Double-A Portland and work his way up from there. The 31-year-old southpaw owns a 3.64 ERA over 338 relief appearances in the majors, so he's a worthwhile flier for Boston.

Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports that left-hander Rafael Perez is expected to sign with the Red Sox.

Perez, who had shoulder surgery last September, was released by the Twins last week. He's presumably getting a minor league deal and could be an option for the major league bullpen down the road.

Twins released LHP Rafael Perez.

Perez, who underwent shoulder surgery last September, had been pitching at Triple-A Rochester in recent weeks, compiling a 2.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 2/3 K/BB ratio over his first four innings of work. The 31-year-old lefty could draw some interest from teams looking for bullpen help.

Rafael Perez (shoulder) pitched an inning this past weekend in an extended spring training game.

"He was fine," Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Sunday. "His arm strength is still not quite where it needs to be, but there were no setbacks." Perez signed a minor league contract with Minnesota this offseason. He has an opt-out clause for May 1.

Rafael Perez (shoulder) will throw live batting practice Thursday.

It will be the first time he's faced hitters since undergoing shoulder surgery last September. A timetable for Perez's return remains up in the air. Samuel Deduno (groin) and Rich Harden (shoulder) will follow Perez with live BP sessions on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Rafael Perez (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday.

It was his first of the spring, as he's dealt with some soreness in his surgically-repaired left shoulder. Perez obviously won't be ready for the start of the season and should begin the year in extended spring training. The lefty entered camp as a possible candidate for the rotation, but it's not clear whether the club will use him as a starter or reliever once he's healthy.

Twins general manager Terry Ryan has indicated that Rafael Perez is dealing with some soreness in his surgically-repaired left shoulder.

It sounds like normal post-op soreness, but it's keeping Perez from throwing off a mound. The southpaw is currently long-tossing from 90 feet. Perez entered camp as a possible candidate for the rotation, but at this point he'd probably be lucky to win a long relief job.

Twins assistant GM Rob Antony said Thursday that Rafael Perez will audition for the starting rotation.

Perez has never started a game in the major leagues, but he has done it in the minors and the Twins are going to give him a shot to shine in that role this spring. The 30-year-old lefty is already recovered from his September shoulder surgery. He owns a 3.64 career MLB ERA.

Indians non-tendered LHP Rafael Perez.

Perez was already designated for assignment earlier this week, so this move means he's officially a free agent. The 30-year-old southpaw was limited to just eight appearances this season due to a shoulder injury which required surgery in September.

Indians designated LHP Rafael Perez for assignment.

Perez was expected to be non-tendered, so the move doesn't come as a big surprise. The 30-year-old southpaw was limited to just eight games this season due to a shoulder injury which required surgery in September. He'll likely have to accept an incentive-laden deal this winter.

The Indians are expected to release Rafael Perez.

Perez is arbitration-eligible and is almost certain to be non-tendered. He appeared in just eight games last season due to a shoulder injury that required surgery in September. After making $2 million in 2012, it's possible Perez could be brought back on an incentive-based contract.
