Blue Jays signed RHP Lance Broadway to a minor league contract.
Broadway was selected in the first round of the 2005 draft and was once considered a great prospect. He can safely be considered a total bust. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 6.17 ERA and 1.56 WHIP this past season in 19 appearances (17 starts) at the Triple-A level. Wed, Dec 16, 2009 11:40:00 AM

Mets non-tendered RHP Lance Broadway.

Broadway, a first-round bust from the 2005 draft, was the return when the Mets gave Ramon Castro to the White Sox in May. He's just a Triple-A pitcher, and there was no reason for the Mets to carry him on the 40-man roster.

Mets recalled RHP Lance Broadway from Triple-A Buffalo.

Broadway takes Oliver Perez's spot on the active roster. He produced a 6.17 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over his time with Triple-A affiliates Charlotte and Buffalo this season. Broadway should be avoided in all formats.

The Mets are reportedly calling up Lance Broadway to take Oliver Perez's spot on the active roster.

Insert witty "Broadway / New York" play on words here. What we'll also insert are Broadway's Triple-A stats this season -- a 6.17 ERA and 1.56 WHIP -- which should be a red flag to stay away in all formats.

Mets acquired RHP Lance Broadway from the White Sox for catcher Ramon Castro and cash.

The White Sox saw Broadway as a future No. 3 starter who could make it to the majors quickly when they drafted him 15th overall in 2005, but it proved to be a big misstep. He wasn't given any chance of making the team out of spring training this year, and though he was called up last month, he wasn't showing a whole lot while posting a 5.06 ERA out of the pen. Middle relief might be his ceiling now. The Mets will stick him in Triple-A.

White Sox recalled pitcher Lance Broadway from Triple-A Charlotte.

He will take the roster spot of Jack Egbert, who was demoted on Saturday. Broadway was 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA in three starts with Triple-A Charlotte. He has a 4.44 ERA in 11 big league appearances with the White Sox.

Lance Broadway yielded four runs in 2 1/3 innings to take a loss to the Athletics on Wednesday.

Broadway's slim chances of making the White Sox are fading with both Bartolo Colon and Jose Contreras returning to health. Clayton Richard has already overtaken him in the White Sox's plans, and Aaron Poreda is about to do the same, if he hasn't already.

White Sox recalled RHP Lance Broadway from Triple-A Charlotte.

Broadway finished 11-7 with a 4.46 ERA for Charlotte, and he has an 8.44 ERA in 10 2/3 innings as a major leaguer. He's behind Clayton Richard in line for starts, and he probably won't work in tight games as a middle reliever.

White Sox optioned RHP Lance Broadway to Triple-A Charlotte.

Broadway earned the demotion after he surrendered eight earned runs in five innings of work.

White Sox recalled RHP Lance Broadway from Triple-A Charlotte.

Broadway, back after 10 days in the minors, will likely pitch in middle relief for now, but he remains a candidate for spot starts.

White Sox optioned RHP Lance Broadway to Triple-A Charlotte.

Broadway pitched well on Thurday, but the Sox want to bolster their bullpen. Lance isn't eligible to be recalled for ten days barring an injury to a pitcher, so the Sox will likely turn to D.J. Carrasco to make a spot start against the Mariners in the meantime.

Lance Broadway allowed just two runs in 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win in his first start of the season on Thursday.

Paul Konerko booted a ball in the first inning that could have started a double play, but instead left runners at second and third - both of whom came around to score, the only damage against Lance. He allowed just five hits, but he struck out just one while walking two. Still, he improved as the game wore on, likely earning a start against Seattle next week.

Lance Broadway will start for the White Sox on Thursday.

He'll take the rotation spot of Jose Contreras instead of D.J. Carrasco. He's allowed just one earned run in 10 2/3 major league innings, but Broadway was 10-7 with a 4.68 ERA and 96/43 K/BB ratio in 138 1/3 innings at Triple-A. He's probably not going to be the solution the Sox are looking for.

White Sox recalled RHP Lance Broadway from Triple-A Charlotte.

Broadway impressed in the majors at the end of last year, but he was struggling in Triple-A since a fast start. By month, he's posted ERAs of 1.25, 4.58, 4.66 and 8.90. He allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings in his first start during August. The White Sox will make him available in long relief today. It might still be up in the air whether he'll be the choice to replace Jose Contreras in the rotation.

Triple-A Charlotte's Lance Broadway allowed one run over eight innings on Tuesday.

The run came on Alex Cintron's homer. Despite striking out only 19 in 36 innings, Broadway has a 1.25 ERA after five starts. He's next in line for a spot in the White Sox rotation. Still, he's not much of a fantasy sleeper.
