Rangers designated 1B/OF Mike Carp for assignment.

Carp lasted less than a month with Texas, batting .125 with zero extra-base hits in 46 plate appearances. He had a really good 2013 season but has struggled mightily this year between the Rangers and Red Sox.
Aug 30 - 4:11 PM

Mike Carp will make his Rangers' debut Monday against the White Sox.

Carp, who was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox on Sunday, will start at first base and bat fifth against Hector Noesi. The 28-year-old should see plenty of playing time down the stretch for Texas, making him worth a look in AL-only and deeper mixed formats.
Aug 4 - 4:15 PM

Rangers claimed 1B/OF Mike Carp off waivers from the Red Sox.

It had been previously reported that the two sides agreed to a trade, but it appears to be just a simple waiver claim that brings Carp to Texas. He should be able to find ample playing time between first base, designated hitter and the corner outfield spots, and could be worth a look in deeper mixed leagues.
Aug 3 - 5:10 PM

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Red Sox have agreed to trade Mike Carp to the Rangers.

It's unclear at the moment what the Red Sox will receive in return, but it isn't expected to be much. Carp was designated for assignment earlier in the week. While he has struggled in sporadic playing time, he should be able to excel if he can find regular at-bats in Texas.
Aug 3 - 4:51 PM

Red Sox designated 1B/OF Mike Carp for assignment.

Carp had requested a trade last weekend. He'll get another opportunity elsewhere soon, whether it's by trade or someone else scooping him up off waivers. The 28-year-old is hitting just .198/.320/.279 with no homers this season but has been productive in the past and could be a nice bench bat for a contender.
Aug 1 - 3:44 PM

Mike Carp has requested to be traded.

Carp was a strong bench player for the Red Sox last year, but this season he has a weak batting line of .215/.337/.304 in 95 plate appearances. He feels he could be more productive somewhere else and the Boston front office seems poised to sell some pieces at the deadline.
Jul 26 - 4:51 PM

Pinch-hitter Mike Carp singled in Daniel Nava in the bottom of the 10th to give the Red Sox a second straight walkoff win over the White Sox on Thursday.

Carp's single off Ronald Belisario was his first hit since he came off the disabled list Monday. He had been hitless in 17 at-bats since May 22. The Red Sox will continue to employ him primarily as a pinch-hitter unless someone wants to trade for him and give him an expanded role.
Jul 10 - 7:46 PM

Red Sox activated 1B Mike Carp from the disabled list.

Carp wound up missing one month with a fractured right foot. He was 5-for-21 (.238) with a home run and three RBI on his seven-game rehab assignment and will be available off Boston's bench Monday night against the White Sox.
Jul 7 - 3:39 PM

Mike Carp (foot) is likely to be activated Monday.

Carp was 5-for-21 (.238) with a home run and three RBI on his seven-game minor league rehab assignment and will presumably be available off the Red Sox bench on Monday evening against the White Sox. He has been out since early June with a fractured right foot.
Jul 7 - 3:15 PM

Mike Carp (foot) will begin a rehab assignment this weekend.

Carp was deemed fit for game action after getting through a round of batting practice Tuesday with no issues. The soon-to-be 28-year-old has been out since early June with a fractured right foot, but it appears he'll be ready for activation next week.
Jun 25 - 8:57 AM

Mike Carp (foot) has been cleared to jog lightly and hit off a tee.

However, it will still be a little while before he's ready to begin a rehab assignment. Carp has been out since late May with a fractured right foot and isn't going to be ready to return before the end of the month.
Jun 22 - 9:16 AM

Mike Carp has had the walking boot removed from his fractured right foot.

However, he's still a couple weeks away from baseball activities. Carp seems unlikely to return before the end of the month.
Jun 9 - 6:56 PM

Mike Carp (foot) was placed in a walking boot after fracturing his foot.

Carp will be in the boot for a week, followed by at least another week of rehab before he begins baseball activities. "We're still a little ways away before he's back to us," said manager John Farrell. Daniel Nava has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket and should split time with Brock Holt at first base in Carp's absence, at least until Mike Napoli (finger) returns.
Jun 2 - 9:34 PM

Red Sox placed INF/OF Mike Carp on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right foot.

He sustained the injury when he was hit by a pitch during last week's series against the Braves. There is no word yet on the projected timetable for his recovery. Brock Holt and Daniel Nava will plug the hole at first base until Mike Napoli (finger) is ready.
