Orioles signed 1B/OF Mike Carp to a minor league contract.
He did not receive an invitation to spring training. Carp looked like he might break out a few years back, but he hit only .175/.289/.230 in the majors in 2014 and then played just seven games at Triple-A last season. The 29-year-old is merely organizational depth. Fri, Mar 4, 2016 04:44:00 PM

Dodgers released 1B/OF Mike Carp.

The Dodgers just signed Carp two weeks ago, and have now parted ways after the 28-year-old collected two hits in 23 at-bats (.091) at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He'll look to latch on elsewhere.

Dodgers signed 1B/OF Mike Carp to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Carp was cut by the Nationals just before Opening Day and did not accept an assignment to their Triple-A affiliate. He'll act as organizational depth at first base and corner outfield for the Dodgers. The 28-year-old owns a decent .254/.330/.414 career slash line in exactly 1,000 major league plate appearances.

Nationals released 1B/OF Mike Carp.

Carp did not accept his assignment to Triple-A Syracuse and will instead try to latch on with a new organization. He owns a decent .744 career major league ERA, so there should be some interest out there.

Nationals reassigned 1B/OF Matt Carp to minor league camp.

Carp, who signed a minor league deal with the Nationals in January, has an opt-out in his contract. He was looking for a bench role with the team. After slashing just .189/.340/.189 in 47 plate appearances this spring, he'll have to decide whether he wants to accept the minor league assignment or opt for free agency.

Mike Carp was scratched from Friday's lineup due to a toe injury.

Carp took a pitch off his pinkie toe on Thursday and the toe was still swollen Friday. He should be fine after a couple days of rest. Carp is competing for a bench spot with the Nationals.

Nationals signed 1B/OF Mike Carp to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that he'll earn a $1 million salary if he makes the Nats. Carp, 28, hit just .175 with zero homers and a .519 OPS over 149 plate appearances between the Red Sox and Rangers last season. However, he has some pop and could compete for a bench job in the spring.

Rangers sent 1B/OF Mike Carp outright to Triple-A Round Rock.

He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. Carp will be arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter but is a non-tender candidate.

Rangers designated 1B/OF Mike Carp for assignment.

Carp lasted less than a month with Texas, batting .125 with zero extra-base hits in 46 plate appearances. He had a really good 2013 season but has struggled mightily this year between the Rangers and Red Sox.

Mike Carp will make his Rangers' debut Monday against the White Sox.

Carp, who was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox on Sunday, will start at first base and bat fifth against Hector Noesi. The 28-year-old should see plenty of playing time down the stretch for Texas, making him worth a look in AL-only and deeper mixed formats.

Rangers claimed 1B/OF Mike Carp off waivers from the Red Sox.

It had been previously reported that the two sides agreed to a trade, but it appears to be just a simple waiver claim that brings Carp to Texas. He should be able to find ample playing time between first base, designated hitter and the corner outfield spots, and could be worth a look in deeper mixed leagues.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Red Sox have agreed to trade Mike Carp to the Rangers.

It's unclear at the moment what the Red Sox will receive in return, but it isn't expected to be much. Carp was designated for assignment earlier in the week. While he has struggled in sporadic playing time, he should be able to excel if he can find regular at-bats in Texas.

Red Sox designated 1B/OF Mike Carp for assignment.

Carp had requested a trade last weekend. He'll get another opportunity elsewhere soon, whether it's by trade or someone else scooping him up off waivers. The 28-year-old is hitting just .198/.320/.279 with no homers this season but has been productive in the past and could be a nice bench bat for a contender.

Mike Carp has requested to be traded.

Carp was a strong bench player for the Red Sox last year, but this season he has a weak batting line of .215/.337/.304 in 95 plate appearances. He feels he could be more productive somewhere else and the Boston front office seems poised to sell some pieces at the deadline.

Pinch-hitter Mike Carp singled in Daniel Nava in the bottom of the 10th to give the Red Sox a second straight walkoff win over the White Sox on Thursday.

Carp's single off Ronald Belisario was his first hit since he came off the disabled list Monday. He had been hitless in 17 at-bats since May 22. The Red Sox will continue to employ him primarily as a pinch-hitter unless someone wants to trade for him and give him an expanded role.
