Luis Rodriguez and Luis Jimenez have not yet arrived in Angels camp due to visa issues.

It's unfortunate especially for Rodriguez, as he actually has a pretty decent shot to win a utility job. That said, their absence shouldn't drag on too long.

Angels signed INF Luis Rodriguez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Rodriguez batted just .296/.389/.452 with 12 home runs and 51 RBI in 422 plate appearances this summer for Triple-A Tacoma -- an affiliate of the Mariners. He could land a spot on Anaheim's Opening Day roster.

Mariners re-signed INF Luis Rodriguez to a minor league contract.

The contract includes an invite to spring training. Rodriguez, 31, batted .197/.299/.333 with two homers, 14 RBI and a .633 OPS over 139 plate appearances this season. With the ability to play multiple infield positions, he has a pretty good chance of making the M's Opening Day roster.

Luis Rodriguez has elected free agency.

Rodriguez opted to become a free agent after being outrighted off the 40-man roster. The 31-year-old infielder batted .197/.299/.333 with two homers, 14 RBI and a .633 OPS over 139 plate appearances with the Mariners this season. He will likely have to settle for a spring training invite somewhere.

Luis Rodriguez returned to action on Monday, batting 0-for-4 in Seattle's 4-2 win.

A right hand injury sidelined Rodriguez during the previous three games. He's hitting .195/.301/.336 through 113 at-bats.

Luis Rodriguez was held out of Friday's lineup due to a right hand injury.

Rodriguez suffered three gashes on his hand when the Twins' Danny Valencia caught him with his spikes on a stolen base attempt during Thursday's game. "He got me good," said Rodriguez. "I tried to grip my bat and I can't do it, so I don't know. I'll see how it feels tomorrow." With Brendan Ryan also out of the lineup, Kyle Seager made the start at shortstop Friday night against the Rangers.

Luis Rodriguez's third hit of the night was his biggest on Wednesday, as he took the Yankees' Cory Wade deep for a walkoff blast in the 12th.

Rodriguez doubled twice off Yankees starter Ivan Nova. Coming into this evening, Rodriguez had just eight extra-base hits in 91 at-bats. A 31-year-old career .239 hitter, Rodriguez and his .198/.301/.354 2011 triple slash are going to have a hard time finding a spot on a major-league roster next season.

Mariners recalled INF Luis Rodriguez from Triple-A Tacoma.

He'll take the place of the injured Brendan Ryan on the active roster. Rodriguez, 31, is batting .167/.271/.292 with one home run and 11 RBI over 87 plate appearances with the M's this season. He is not fantasy relevant.

Mariners optioned INF Luis Rodriguez to Triple-A Tacoma.

He was cleared to make room for Dustin Ackley on the active roster. Rodriguez made the Mariners out of spring training, but was batting just .167/.271/.292 with one home run and 11 RBI over his first 87 plate appearances this season. He'll probably be back at some point this summer.

Luis Rodriguez will be optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday to make room for Dustin Ackley on Seattle's 25-man roster.

The owner of a .167/.271/.292 triple slash through 87 plate appearances, Rodriguez won't be able to say he didn't see it coming. Set to turn 31 in 11 days, it's possible Rodriguez has played his final major-league game.

Luis Rodriguez hit a three-run homer off Detroit's Ryan Perry as part of the Mariners' win on Thursday.

It was his first homer in the majors since 2009 and ninth in 889 career at-bats. He'll probably get another start on Friday if Jack Wilson's eye remains an issue.

Luis Rodriguez delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Mariners an 8-7 win over the Jays on Monday.

The Mariners scored once in the seventh, five times in the eighth and then twice in the ninth for their most inspiring victory in years. With the Mariners down 7-6, Michael Saunders started the bottom of the ninth against Shawn Camp with a double. Brendan Ryan sacrificed him along, but Adam Kennedy couldn't plate the tying run with his groundout to short. The Jays then decided to walk Ichiro Suzuki, putting the winning run on base. Suzuki stole second, and Rodriguez capped a 10-pitch at-bat with a shot to the gap in right-center, easily scoring both baserunners. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for Seattle.

Mariners purchased the contract of INF Luis Rodriguez.

Rodriguez inked a minor league contract with the Mariners this offseason and managed to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster with a decent showing this spring. He will act as a utility middle infielder for Seattle.

Mariners signed INF Luis Rodriguez to a minor league deal.

Rodriguez has a sorry .243/.316/.323 batting line over 855 career at-bats but is coming off a nice season at Triple-A Charlotte, as he batted .293/.364/.493 with 16 homers over 345 at-bats. The power display was particularly surprising given that he entered the year with 25 homers in 3,252 career minor league at-bats. He'll fight for a bench spot in spring training.
