Pirates signed INF Anderson Hernandez to a minor league contract.

He will also get a spring training invite. Hernandez, 29, spent last season in the Astros' minor league system and has an ugly .241/.300/.314 batting line over 703 plate appearances in the majors. Look for him to serve as organizational depth.

Astros re-signed INF Anderson Hernandez to a minor league contract.

Hernandez has played for four different teams the last two seasons and is batting just .241/.300/.314 over 643 career at-bats. He'll try to win a utility job in spring training.

The 27-year-old middle infielder hit .220/.286/.266 over 109 at-bats this season between the Indians and Astros. He can elect free agency.

Astros purchased the contract of INF Anderson Hernandez from Triple-A Round Rock.

The 'Stros designated Hernandez for assignment just under two weeks ago, but they need him now that Jeff Keppinger has been lost to a fractured toe. Hernandez was 2-for-13 earlier this season in the big leagues.

Astros designate INF Anderson Hernandez for assignment.

Hernandez was cleared to make room for Geoff Blum's return from the disabled list. The 27-year-old infielder was 2-for-13 (.154) during his brief time with the Astros. He was just claimed off waivers from the Indians on July 21.

Astros claimed INF Anderson Hernandez off waivers from the Indians.

He is expected to join the team on Friday. Hernandez batted .246/.270/.295 with two RBI in 61 at-bats before being designated for assignment by the Indians last week. He holds no fantasy value to speak of.

Indians purchased the contract of INF Anderson Hernandez from Triple-A Columbus.

Hernandez will take the place of Mark Grudzielanek on the roster. The 27-year-old infielder was claimed off waivers from the Mets in March and outrighted to Triple-A Colbumbus after spring training. He has a .245/.303/.324 batting line in the major leagues and doesn't carry any fantasy value.

Indians designated INF Anderson Hernandez for assignment.

The 27-year-old journeyman infielder was claimed off waivers just a few weeks ago from the Mets, but obviously failed to impress Cleveland management. He batted just .251/.312/.339 with three homers and 37 RBI between Washington and New York last season.

Indians claimed INF Anderson Hernandez off waivers from the Mets.

Hernandez, who played part of the past two seasons in Washington, will be reunited with his former manager Manny Acta in Cleveland. The 27-year-old batted .251/.312/.339 with three homers and 37 RBI between Washington and New York last season. Hernandez ran a ton in the minors, yet has just seven stolen bases in 186 career games in the majors. He's nothing besides a useful glove at second base.

Mets acquired second baseman Anderson Hernandez from the Nationals for second baseman Greg Veloz.

With Alberto Gonzalez in tow, Hernandez had no future in Washington and was quickly losing playing time. He'll find at-bats in New York while Luis Castillo nurses a sprained ankle, but was hitting just .251/.310/.320 for the Nats and still isn't a great bet for fantasy purposes.

According to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, the Nationals will receive minor league infielder Greg Veloz in return for Anderson Hernandez.

Veloz isn't really much of a prospect, despite his age. The 21-year-old is batting just .232/.297/.303 on the Single-A level this season with 81 strikeouts, two home runs and 19 RBI in 357 at-bats.
