Trevor Crowe has taken over as the Astros' starter in right field for the time being.
He's taking over for Jimmy Paredes, who is batting just .190/.242/.274 this season and has just one hit in 21 June at-bats. Of course, Crowe is hitting only .194/.286/.274 himself, so he shouldn't get too comfortable with his starting role. He's likely to head back to the bench when Justin Maxwell returns. Trevor Crowe connected for solo home run in Friday's loss to the Rangers.

It was Crowe's fourth career home run and his first in the majors since July 23, 2010 as a member of the Indians. The 29-year-old outfielder has shown some wheels in the past, but it's not clear if he'll get enough at-bats to be relevant in AL-only leagues.

Astros purchased the contract of OF Trevor Crowe from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Crowe was batting .300/.398/.418 with two homers and 11 steals at Oklahoma City. He should be in the mix to see some playing time in center field while Justin Maxwell is out.

The deal includes a spring training invite. Crowe played exclusively in the minor leagues this past season as a member of the Angels and Indians. The 28-year-old figures to be in the mix for a backup outfielder job.

Crowe was released by the Indians on Monday after hitting .250 with a .722 OPS in 152 plate appearances this season at Triple-A Columbus. He'll serve as organizational depth with Triple-A Salt Lake.

T.J. Zuppe of ESPN 850 in Cleveland reports that Angels will sign outfielder Trevor Crowe.

Crowe was released by the Indians on Monday. The 28-year-old was hitting .250 with a .722 OPS in 152 plate appearances this season at Triple-A Columbus.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, a trade that would have involved Trevor Crowe is now a "no-go."

Whether this will have an impact on the reportedly-close Bobby Abreu swap is not yet known. Crowe, 28, is expected to open the 2012 season in the minor leagues.

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Indians are "close to trading" outfielder Trevor Crowe.

It's not clear whether Crowe is involved in the said-to-be-looming Bobby Abreu deal. But it's probably a safe assumption. The 28-year-old was pulled from a minor league game on Thursday afternoon and told to prepare his things. He batted just .214/.313/.250 in 15 major league games last year.

Trevor Crowe will be a non-roster invitee to major league camp with the Indians.

Crowe was outrighted off the Indians' 40-man roster in early November. The 28-year-old outfielder was limited to just 15 games at the major league level last season due to shoulder problems and is unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster.

Trevor Crowe (shoulder) is done for the season.

Crowe strained his left shoulder (not the one that he had surgically-repaired in March) during Saturday's 8-2 defeat of the Twins. And the out-of-contention Indians won't rush him back. The 27-year-old outfielder batted .214/.313/.250 in 28 at-bats.

Trevor Crowe left Saturday's game in the second inning with a left shoulder strain.

The good news is that it's not the same shoulder that he had surgically-repaired back in March. We'll update his status when more is known.

Indians activated OF Trevor Crowe from the 60-day disabled list.

Crowe underwent shoulder surgery in March and hasn't played in the major leagues this season. The 27-year-old batted .263 (10-for-38) with two homers, three doubles and a triple over 11 minor league rehab games between the AZL Indians and Triple-A Columbus. He'll serve as a reserve outfielder down the stretch.

Trevor Crowe will have his minor league rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Columbus.

He is expected to play Tuesday. Crowe, who is working his way back from shoulder surgery, batted .444 (8-for-18) with two homers, three doubles, one triple and eight RBI in six games in the Arizona Rookie League. The 27-year-old outfielder should rejoin the Indians in September.
