Dodgers designated LHP Jack Taschner for assignment.
Taschner signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers in June and was called up to the big leagues last week. But he allowed 14 earned runs in 19 2/3 innings and will either elect free agency or head back to Triple-A Albuquerque. It may be in his best interest to stick with the Dodgers. Dodgers recalled LHP Jack Taschner from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Taschner was inked to a minor league contract in late June. He posted a 6.05 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP in 17 appearances for the Pirates earlier this season and probably won't have a ton of success in Los Angeles either.

Dodgers signed LHP Jack Taschner to a minor league contract.

The news comes via Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com, who spoke directly with the general manager of the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That is where Taschner will start his Dodgers career. He was designated for assignment in early June by the Pirates after opening the season with a 6.05 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP in 17 appearances.

Jack Taschner has elected to become a free agent.

The reliever was designated for assignment last week in order to clear roster space for pitching prospect Brad Lincoln. Taschner, 32, had a 6.05 ERA in 17 appearances for the Bucs, but plenty of teams are desperate for bullpen help. He should get another opportunity in no time.

Pirates designated LHP Jack Taschner for assignment.

Taschner was cleared in anticipation of Brad Lincoln's major league debut on Wednesday. The 32-year-old left-hander has posted a 6.05 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 17 relief appearance with the Bucs this season.

Pirates activated LHP Jack Taschner from the 15-day disabled list.

As expected. Taschner returns with a 6.23 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over his first 16 appearances this season. He has been on the shelf since May 17 due to a left hamstring injury.

Jack Taschner (hamstring) could be activated from the disabled list as early as Wednesday.

Taschner is already back with the team after allowing one run over two appearances with Double-A Altoona. He had a 6.23 ERA over 16 appearances before going on the disabled list with a left hamstring injury last month.

Pirates placed LHP Jack Taschner on 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 18, with left hamstring tightness.

Taschner was serviceable in April, but has allowed runs in three out of his last six appearances, good enough for a 14.73 ERA over 3 2/3 innings this month. Ryan Howard touched him up for a grand slam on Monday.

Pirates signed LHP Jack Taschner to a minor league contract.

Taschner can make $835,000 if he finds his way onto the Pirates' Opening Day roster and has the opportunity to earn up to $465,000 through performance-based incentives. He's a cheap relief option for the budget-conscious Pirates, but we wouldn't expect much from him in 2010. The 31-year-old posted a 1.98 WHIP and 19/20 K/BB ratio in 29 1/3 innings of relief this year for the Phillies.

ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports that the Pirates have agreed to a minor league contract with left-handed reliever Jack Taschner.

The deal, once finalized, will come with an invitation to spring training. Taschner, 31, posted a 4.91 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and 19/20 K/BB ratio in 29 1/3 innings of relief this year for the Phillies. He was equally bad against right-handed and left-handed hitters in 2009 and will probably be used as a middle reliever in Pittsburgh, if he makes the club.

Jack Taschner has a mid-back strain and is no longer with the Phillies.

Taschner was sent to the club's spring training complex in Clearwater, Florida for rehabilitation. He was used only sparingly while with the Phils and won't be included on the playoff roster.

Phillies purchased the contract of LHP Jack Taschner from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Keep in mind that corresponding moves are no longer necessary in most cases because teams are now allowed to carry 40 players. Taschner, 31, was designated for assignment in July after posting a 5.20 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 17/20 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings with the Phillies. He went 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 20 games at the Triple-A level and will be used as a situational left-hander.

Phillies sent LHP Jack Taschner outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Taschner will stick around after failing to garner much interest on the trade market. He was designated for assignment over the weekend due in large part to his 5.20 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 17/20 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings.

Phillies designated LHP Jack Taschner for assignment.

Acquired from the Giants in late March for catcher Ronny Paulino, Taschner posted a 5.20 ERA, a 1.92 WHIP and a 17/20 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings for the Phillies. He surrendered six runs in his last three outings. The Phils now have 10 days to trade or release him.

Phillies acquired LHP Jake Taschner from the Giants for catcher Ronny Paulino.

Taschner wouldn't have been on our list of lefties to gamble on, but the Phillies weren't going to use Paulino over Chris Coste and they did want another southpaw with J.C. Romero out. Taschner had a 4.88 ERA in 67 appearances covering 48 innings last season. He's a very borderline major leaguer.
