Royals signed RHP Blaine Boyer to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Boyer, 36, posted a 4.35 ERA in 32 appearances for the Red Sox last season, with 33 strikeouts and 14 walks in 41 1/3 innings. He's appeared in 426 games over his 11-year career, almost all of them as a middle-reliever. Boyer should have a decent chance of making the Royals' major league bullpen out of camp, assuming he pitches up to his best abilities during spring training.

Red Sox activated RHP Blaine Boyer from the 10-day disabled list.

Boyer missed just over two weeks of action with a neck strain initially suffered in early August. He returns to a 3.21 ERA in 22 relief appearances and will work in a middle relief role with the Red Sox now that he is past the injury concern.

Red Sox placed RHP Blaine Boyer on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow strain.

Blaine Boyer left Saturday's game against the Yankees with right elbow tightness.

Boyer tossed a scoreless 12th inning but injured himself while warming up for the 13th and was eventually helped off by a trainer. With the bullpen shot after Saturday's 16-inning loss and a doubleheader to follow on Sunday, there's a good chance the Red Sox will place Boyer on the DL and call up a fresh arm from Pawtucket.

Red Sox purchased the contract of RHP Blaine Boyer from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Boyer is taking the roster spot vacated by Brian Johnson, who was sent down after posting a shutout in a spot start Saturday. It could be a one-day stay for Boyer, as he would seem to be a prime candidate to be designated for assignment when David Price (elbow) is activated Monday.

Braves released RHP Blaine Boyer.

The club informed him on Saturday that he wouldn't be making the Opening Day bullpen and have given him an opportunity to latch on elsewhere. If he's unable to land a big league job, they would love to have him back on a minor league deal to function as bullpen depth at Triple-A Gwinnett.
