Blaine Boyer tossed a perfect ninth inning Saturday against the Blue Jays for his first save of the season.

Boyer was filling in for Glen Perkins, who had thrown in three out of the last four days and took the loss in a rare shaky outing on Friday. This was just the third save of Boyer's career. Blaine Boyer hasn't pitched since Thursday's due to right shoulder fatigue.

He hasn't thrown a ball since then, but Boyer thinks he'll be back soon. "I think we all came to the conclusion that it's just fatigue, fatigue in the back part of my shoulder," Boyer said. "The strength is still there, everything else is fine. It's just a matter of fatigue, as simple as that. The rest has helped. We're doing a lot of treatment." Boyer has been a nice surprise for the Padres this season, posting a 3.05 ERA and 29/8 K/BB ratio over 38 1/3 relief innings.
