Blaine Boyer left Saturday's game against the Yankees with right elbow tightness.

Boyer tossed a scoreless 12th inning but injured himself while warming up for the 13th and was eventually helped off by a trainer. With the bullpen shot after Saturday's 16-inning loss and a doubleheader to follow on Sunday, there's a good chance the Red Sox will place Boyer on the DL and call up a fresh arm from Pawtucket.
Jul 15 - 9:42 PM

Red Sox purchased the contract of RHP Blaine Boyer from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Boyer is taking the roster spot vacated by Brian Johnson, who was sent down after posting a shutout in a spot start Saturday. It could be a one-day stay for Boyer, as he would seem to be a prime candidate to be designated for assignment when David Price (elbow) is activated Monday.
May 28 - 10:00 AM

Red Sox signed RHP Blaine Boyer to a minor league contract.

Braves released RHP Blaine Boyer.

The club informed him on Saturday that he wouldn't be making the Opening Day bullpen and have given him an opportunity to latch on elsewhere. If he's unable to land a big league job, they would love to have him back on a minor league deal to function as bullpen depth at Triple-A Gwinnett.
