Boyer tossed a scoreless 12th inning but injured himself while warming up for the 13th and was eventually helped off by a trainer. With the bullpen shot after Saturday's 16-inning loss and a doubleheader to follow on Sunday, there's a good chance the Red Sox will place Boyer on the DL and call up a fresh arm from Pawtucket.

The Pioneer Press' Mike Bernadino reports that if he's part of the Brewers' Opening Day roster, Blain Boyer will make $950,000.

The Brewers signed Boyer to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training in mid-February. In 65 innings with the Twins in 2015, the 34-year-old right-hander pitched to a 2.49 ERA with a 33/19 K/BB ratio. He should have a solid opportunity to land on the Opening Day roster.

Boyer put up a 2.49 ERA last season with the Twins, although that came along with just 22 strikeouts over 65 innings. He should be able to win a middle relief job.

Blaine Boyer has expressed interest in re-signing with the Twins.

According to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, a "handful of clubs" have shown interest in Boyer this offseason including the Royals. Boyer emerged as a solid late-inning arm for the Twins, logging a 2.49 ERA across 65 innings in 2015. The 34 year old has pitched for six teams since making his debut in 2005. He earned a modest $850,000 this past season.

Boyer has been out since August 9 with right elbow inflammation. He returns to a 2.98 ERA in 51 relief appearances this season for Minnesota.
