Diamondbacks signed RHP Kyle Drabek to a minor league contract.
Drabek pitched in the majors only three times in 2015, but he's a former top prospect with a decent minor league track record. The 27-year-old righty could see some time with the Diamondbacks at some point in 2016. Mon, Nov 23, 2015 03:58:00 PM

White Sox designated RHP Kyle Drabek for assignment.

Drabek had allowed three earned runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings of relief for the White Sox. The former top prospect could draw some interest on waivers.

White Sox claimed RHP Kyle Drabek off waivers from the Blue Jays.

The former top prospect has lost all his steam over the last few years, but the White Sox figure to get him a shot as a reliever and he's probably worth a gamble. Drabek has had major control issues in the majors, posting a 5.27 ERA and 5.8 BB/9 ratio. He's been good this spring, allowing two runs while striking out seven over seven frames.

Kyle Drabek struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief Saturday against the Yankees.

Drabek entered the day having allowing two runs in three innings, but the reports on him this spring have been encouraging. He's out of options, but the Blue Jays certainly have room for him in their wide-open bullpen. Keep an eye on him.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Kyle Drabek to Triple-A Buffalo.

Drabek struck out five over three scoreless relief frames, but that wasn't enough to keep him around. He'll return next month.

Blue Jays recalled RHP Kyle Drabek from Triple-A Buffalo.

He will work as the long man in the Jays bullpen for the time being. The former top prospect has split his time between the rotation and the bullpen at Buffalo this season, compiling a 4.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 67/28 K/BB ratio over 96 2/3 innings. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Blue Jays optioned RHPs Kyle Drabek and Chad Jenkins and LHP Sean Nolin to Triple-A Buffalo.

Drabek has always had control issues and that was no different this camp, as he walked six and hit a batter over his eight innings. He needs to log some minor league innings as he further distances himself from Tommy John surgery.

Kyle Drabek walked three and yielded one run in 1 2/3 innings Wednesday in relief versus the Phillies.

Drabek is a long shot rotation candidate for the Blue Jays after returning from Tommy John surgery late last season. Realistically, he needs to prove himself in Triple-A for a month or two before getting a shot.

Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker said that Kyle Drabek "stood out" during his first spring training bullpen session Monday.

"He was one guy that stood out for me today," Walker said. "His delivery looked sound, I love where his hands are right now. He located the ball down in the zone, his changeup was outstanding." Walker added that Drabek will be "in the mix" for a starting job if he can throw strikes, because "there's no question that's a major league-calibre arm." Drabek missed a good chunk of 2013 while working his way back from a second Tommy John surgery, but he's healthy now and the 26-year-old will try to show why he was once considered a top prospect. He'll most likely begin the year at Triple-A.

An X-ray on Kyle Drabek's right ankle came back negative.

Drabek had to leave Wednesday's game after being hit by a comebacker, but he's avoided a serious injury. Consider the right-hander day-to-day.

Blue Jays recalled RHP Kyle Drabek from Triple-A Buffalo.

Drabek underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career last June and has been working back ever since. He went 1-4 with a 3.14 ERA and 35/6 K/BB ratio in 43 innings on the farm this season. Drabek is expected to serve as Toronto's swing man initially.

Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Sunday that it's "very possible" both Kyle Drabek (elbow) and Drew Hutchison (elbow) return in September.

Manager John Gibbons said less than a week ago that he didn't expect to see either pitcher this season, but Anthopoulos isn't ruling it out. Drabek holds a 2.55 ERA and 23/4 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 rehab innings as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, while Hutchinson has a 3.00 mark and 15/7 K/BB ratio over 12 frames in his recovery from the same procedure.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) has allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk over 4 1/3 innings in his first two rehab appearances with High-A Dunedin.

Drabek underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career last June. He's likely to make at least one more appearance with Dunedin before being formally optioned to the minors. If all goes well, he could be an option for the Jays at some point during the second half.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) will make his first rehab start Saturday with High-A Dunedin.

Drabek is 12 months removed from Tommy John surgery and figures to require a lengthy rehab assignment. The 25-year-old right-hander is on track to return from the 60-day disabled at some point after the All-Star break.
