Kyle Drabek (elbow) expects to throw live batting practice in the next week or two.
Drabek threw a bullpen session Monday in extended spring training. He's coming back from the second Tommy John surgery of his career, so the Blue Jays figure to take things slow, but he could be looking at a return around midseason if all goes well. May 8 - 9:18 AM

Kyle Drabek (elbow) threw a bullpen session at extended spring training on Monday.

Drabek has been throwing off a mound for many weeks now, but there's no timetable for when he'll appear in games. He's expected to make his return from Tommy John surgery in July.
May 6 - 8:09 PM

Kyle Drabek (elbow) is scheduled to throw off a mound this week.

Drabek underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career last June. The Blue Jays already placed him on the 60-day disabled, so he's not going to be ready until late in the 2013 season.
Mar 12 - 3:52 PM

Blue Jays placed RHP Kyle Drabek on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Lars Anderson. Drabek will miss at least the first half of 2013 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Feb 25 - 2:15 PM

Blue Jays activated RHP Kyle Drabek from the 60-day disabled list.

This is merely a procedural move. Drabek, a promising 24-year-old right-hander, had Tommy John surgery in June and is likely to miss the majority of the 2013 season.

Blue Jays transferred RHP Kyle Drabek from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

It's just a bit of housekeeping, as the move clears a spot on the 40-man roster. Drabek is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday and will be sidelined through the early part of 2013.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery Tuesday.

Drabek was diagnosed with a ligament tear in his elbow, so it was something of a foregone conclusion. This will be the second Tommy John surgery of his brief career. He'll miss the rest of the season and the early portion of 2013, as well.

Updating a previous item, Kyle Drabek was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a ligament tear in his right elbow.

It was originally reported he was being placed on the DL with a ''UCL sprain.'' Initial tests revealed no loss of strength or stability, but Drabek is now facing the prospect of Tommy John surgery and missing more than a year of baseball. There will be more clarity on his status after he is re-evaluated by Dr. James Andrews this weekend.

Kyle Drabek will receive a second opinion on his right elbow from Dr. James Andrews soon.

Drabek has been diagnosed with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament and was placed on the DL Friday. He insists that he has no pain, but the Jays want to play it safe and will let Dr. Andrews have a look. His timetable should be clarified after the visit.

Blue Jays placed RHP Kyle Drabek on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 14, with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

It's not clear at this point how long he'll be out or if surgery is a possibility, but Drabek will almost surely be sidelined for more than two weeks. Brett Cecil has been recalled to take his spot in the rotation.

Kyle Drabek said Wednesday that he is "not too concerned" about his injured right elbow.

Drabek reported feeling a "popping sensation" in the joint before exiting his Wednesday afternoon outing against the Nationals. But things are apparently looking up already. "We did all the tests for it and I was strong," said the young right-hander. "So that was some good news." He will be re-evaluated on Thursday morning.

Kyle Drabek felt a "popping sensation" in his right elbow before leaving Wednesday's start.

Drabek left Wednesday's outing in the fifth inning with the injury. It sounds scary, but Blue Jays manager John Farrell said that the young right-hander is in no pain at the moment. We should know more on his status after he undergoes tests Thursday.

Kyle Drabek left Wednesday's start against the Nationals in the fifth inning with an apparent injury.

The exact nature of the injury isn't yet clear, but it appeared to be arm-related. Drabek allowed four runs over 4 1/3 innings before being replaced by Aaron Laffey. Stay tuned for an update.

Kyle Drabek had mixed results against the Braves on Friday, allowing three runs on six hits over five innings, but he made key pitches when necessary to limit the damage.

Drabek was on the hook for his seventh loss of the season until the Jays rallied to tie the game in the eighth inning. As it stands, he'll take a 4-6 record and middling 4.70 ERA with him into his next start where he'll face the Nationals at home. Drabek should probably remain on fantasy benches until he straightens things out.

Kyle Drabek allowed five runs (four earned) in 6 2/3 innings Saturday as part of a loss to the Red Sox.

Drabek allowed four out of the five runs in the second inning. All told, he gave up six hits and four walks while striking out four. With a lousy 46/41 K/BB ratio in 62 innings this year, Drabek just can't be trusted in shallow mixed leagues, especially against tough lineups.
