Blue Jays recalled RHP Kyle Drabek from Triple-A Buffalo.

He will work as the long man in the Jays bullpen for the time being. The former top prospect has split his time between the rotation and the bullpen at Buffalo this season, compiling a 4.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 67/28 K/BB ratio over 96 2/3 innings. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Blue Jays optioned RHPs Kyle Drabek and Chad Jenkins and LHP Sean Nolin to Triple-A Buffalo.

Drabek has always had control issues and that was no different this camp, as he walked six and hit a batter over his eight innings. He needs to log some minor league innings as he further distances himself from Tommy John surgery.
Mar 16 - 10:01 AM

Kyle Drabek walked three and yielded one run in 1 2/3 innings Wednesday in relief versus the Phillies.

Drabek is a long shot rotation candidate for the Blue Jays after returning from Tommy John surgery late last season. Realistically, he needs to prove himself in Triple-A for a month or two before getting a shot.

Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker said that Kyle Drabek "stood out" during his first spring training bullpen session Monday.

"He was one guy that stood out for me today," Walker said. "His delivery looked sound, I love where his hands are right now. He located the ball down in the zone, his changeup was outstanding." Walker added that Drabek will be "in the mix" for a starting job if he can throw strikes, because "there's no question that's a major league-calibre arm." Drabek missed a good chunk of 2013 while working his way back from a second Tommy John surgery, but he's healthy now and the 26-year-old will try to show why he was once considered a top prospect. He'll most likely begin the year at Triple-A.

An X-ray on Kyle Drabek's right ankle came back negative.

Drabek had to leave Wednesday's game after being hit by a comebacker, but he's avoided a serious injury. Consider the right-hander day-to-day.

Blue Jays recalled RHP Kyle Drabek from Triple-A Buffalo.

Drabek underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career last June and has been working back ever since. He went 1-4 with a 3.14 ERA and 35/6 K/BB ratio in 43 innings on the farm this season. Drabek is expected to serve as Toronto's swing man initially.

Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Sunday that it's "very possible" both Kyle Drabek (elbow) and Drew Hutchison (elbow) return in September.

Manager John Gibbons said less than a week ago that he didn't expect to see either pitcher this season, but Anthopoulos isn't ruling it out. Drabek holds a 2.55 ERA and 23/4 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 rehab innings as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, while Hutchinson has a 3.00 mark and 15/7 K/BB ratio over 12 frames in his recovery from the same procedure.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) has allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk over 4 1/3 innings in his first two rehab appearances with High-A Dunedin.

Drabek underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career last June. He's likely to make at least one more appearance with Dunedin before being formally optioned to the minors. If all goes well, he could be an option for the Jays at some point during the second half.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) will make his first rehab start Saturday with High-A Dunedin.

Drabek is 12 months removed from Tommy John surgery and figures to require a lengthy rehab assignment. The 25-year-old right-hander is on track to return from the 60-day disabled at some point after the All-Star break.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) is scheduled to pitch two innings of an intrasquad game early next week.

Good news for Drabek, who underwent Tommy John surgery last June. The 25-year-old figures to require a lengthy rehab assignment, but he should make an impact with the big club at some point during the second half of the season.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) expects to throw live batting practice in the next week or two.

Drabek threw a bullpen session Monday in extended spring training. He's coming back from the second Tommy John surgery of his career, so the Blue Jays figure to take things slow, but he could be looking at a return around midseason if all goes well.

Kyle Drabek (elbow) is scheduled to throw off a mound this week.

Drabek underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career last June. The Blue Jays already placed him on the 60-day disabled, so he's not going to be ready until late in the 2013 season.

Blue Jays placed RHP Kyle Drabek on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

The move was made in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Lars Anderson. Drabek will miss at least the first half of 2013 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
