Giants placed RHP Brandon Medders on the 15-day disabled list with right knee inflammation.

Medders was knocked around for six runs, including two homers on Wednesday, so perhaps it was injury-related. The 30-year-old right-hander has a newly-inflated 7.20 ERA over 14 appearances this season.

The Giants and RHP Brandon Medders avoided arbitration on Saturday by agreeing to a one-year, $820,000 contract.

Giants purchased the contracts of RHP Brandon Medders, INF Rich Aurilia and INF Juan Uribe and OF Andres Torres from Triple-A Fresno.

Recent indications were that Medders wouldn't have a spot, but he was picked over Luis Perdomo. The addition or Torres means there will be six outfielders on the team, even though there's really only four worthy of starts.

Brandon Medders pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings out of the pen Friday against the Angels.

In the wake of Keiichi Yabu's demotion, Medders suddenly looks like a pretty good bet to win a spot in San Francisco's pen. The former Diamondback has allowed one hit in 5 1/3 scoreless innings this spring.

Brandon Medders cleared waivers and will head to Triple-A Tuscon.

It's a bit of a surprise no team tried to claim Medders. He was 1-0 with a 4.12 ERA in 18 appearances with the Diamondbacks. He'll be the first reliever called up if something goes wrong with the big club.

Diamondbacks designated RHP Brandon Medders for assignment.

With Doug Davis returning from the disabled list Friday, the Diamondacks chose to part with Medders rather than option Max Scherzer back to Triple-A. Scherzer will now move back to the bullpen, while the Diamondbacks hope that Medders clears waivers despite a 3.52 career ERA in 151 innings.

Brandon Medders was lit up in relief on Thursday, allowing five runs in an inning against the Brewers.

Medders and Dustin Nippert, both out of options, are competing for what appears to be one spot in Arizona's pen. Medders had allowed just one run in four innings coming into the day, but he was the undergo entering camp. The Diamondbacks might end up trading him for a prospect late in the spring.

Diamondbacks optioned RHP Brandon Medders to Triple-A Tucson.

Despite allowing two hits, Brandon Medders was able to pitch a scoreless inning Saturday in his first appearance of the spring.

Medders has been bothered by elbow tenderness in camp, but it's a good sign that he was able to get into a game today. Barring any additional problems, he should be a key part of the Arizona bullpen.

Brandon Medders has been experiencing some tenderness in his right elbow, but said that during his throwing session on Monday, he felt the best he has all spring.

"I don't know what changed, but I felt really good today," Medders said. "The guys in the training room have worked hard on me. I haven't missed a throwing session yet. [The doctors] said it's in an area [of the elbow] that's less serious, so that's a good thing." Still, if Medders continues to experience soreness, the Diamondbacks probably won't be able to make Jorge Julio available in trade talks.
