Greenberg signed a one-day contract with the Marlins this week and struck out against R.A. Dickey during his only at-bat on Tuesday. He was hit in the helmet in his only previous career plate appearance as a member of the Cubs back in 2005. Now he finally has some closure.

Cubs invited OF Adam Greenberg, RHP Bobby Brownlie, LHP Carmen Pignatiello, LHP Raul Valdez, RHP Randy Wells, C Dennis Anderson, C Jake Fox, INF Casey McGehee, 1B Brandon Sing and OF Buck Coats to spring training.

Greenberg cleared waivers after being designated for assignment in November, but he's still a prospect. He'll probably be a member of Triple-A Iowa's outfield. Brownle, Pignatiello and Valdez could be candidates to see time in the pen later on.

Greenberg missed the final 2 1/2 months of the season after suffering a concussion shortly after being called up by the Cubs. He won't be in the team's plans for the start of next year, but he could be recalled to see time in the outfield after spending a couple of months in Triple-A.

Greenberg returned recently to playing for Double-A West Tenn, but has been returned to Mesa, Arizona for further evaluation because vertigo continues to affect him when he plays.

We'll see if Greenberg still has a roster spot when he's ready to return in two weeks. If he doesn't, at least he'll return to the minors with a 1.000 OBP.
