Rays re-signed LHP Dana Eveland to a minor league contract.
While Eveland was outrighted by the Rays on October 7 and subsequently elected free agency, he said that the plan was to loop back around to re-sign. That has now come to pass. In 23 frames at the major league level in 2016, the veteran hurler pitched to a 9.00 ERA and 2.21 WHIP. He holds a career earned run mark of 5.46 across stints with a whopping 10 different teams. "That's the plan," said Eveland of a potential return to the Rays. The team outrighted him to Triple-A last week, at which point he opted for free agency. Looks like the veteran southpaw might be sticking in the Rays' organization after all, though. He held a rough 9.00 ERA and 2.21 WHIP over 23 innings with the big league club during the 2016 season.
