Braves designated LHP Dana Eveland for assignment.
The veteran southpaw posted a 6.00 ERA, 2.67 WHIP and 4/3 K/BB ratio in his three innings with the big league club. It's unclear if he'll look to latch on elsewhere, or accept an assignment to Triple-A and continue to provide organizational bullpen depth. Jul 5 - 5:13 PM

Eveland opted out of his minor league deal with the Red Sox after failing to receive a promotion following a 1.54 ERA and 20/3 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings at Triple-A Pawtucket. He should get a shot with the Braves soon.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports Dana Eveland has opted out of his minor league contract with the Red Sox, making him a free agent.

Pitching for Triple-A Pawtucket, Eveland has posted a 1.54 ERA and 20/3 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings this season. He could catch on in a better situation with a team looking for major league lefty relief help.

Eveland gave up six runs -- four earned -- in 7 1/3 innings this spring in the Grapefruit League. He'll act as left-handed relief depth this year for Boston.

Red Sox signed LHP Dana Eveland to a minor league contract.

It's a split contract with an invitation to spring training. Eveland, 31, has a career 5.27 ERA, but pitched well for the Mets last season, finishing with a 2.63 ERA and a 27/6 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings. The lefty was hit on his pitching elbow in July and was ultimately shut down in September.

Mets sent LHP Dana Eveland outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Eveland pitched well when healthy this season, posting a 2.63 ERA and 27/6 K/BB ratio over 27 1/3 innings. He dealt with elbow issues for much of the second half, though, before eventually being shut down.

Dana Eveland (elbow) is likely done for the season.

Eveland was given a cortisone injection in his left elbow in hopes that it would allow him to keep pitching, but an MRI Thursday showed that he still had inflammation. The good news is that he has no structural damage. "It was a relief to know there is no structural damage," Eveland said, "but it (stinks) I was having a good season, I wanted to finish strong."

Dana Eveland will be unavailable until at least Friday after receiving a cortisone injection in his ailing left elbow.

The Mets are hoping it's not a disabled list situation, but it's not a given. Eveland has pitched surprisingly well for the Mets, posting a 3.09 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 21/5 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 relief innings.

An X-ray on Dana Eveland's left elbow came back clean.

Eveland was hit on the pitching elbow by a comebacker Monday. While he escaped serious injury, it wouldn't be a surprise if he was unavailable for a few days.
