Clay Hensley left Friday's Cactus League game with an apparent injury.

Early word is that it's some sort of lower body injury. For what it's worth, Hensley was dealing with a hamstring injury early in camp. The 32-year-old right-hander was expected to win a spot in the bullpen, so an extended absence could open the door for the likes of Steve Edlefsen, Danny Otero and Jean Machi.

The deal also carries $300,000 worth of performance-based incentives. Hensley posted a disappointing 5.19 ERA and 46/30 K/BB ratio in 67 2/3 innings last season for the Fish. He should fare better this year with San Fran.

Marlins non-tendered RHP Clay Hensley.

Hensley was already designated for assignment by the club on Friday. The 32-year-old right-hander dealt with injuries this past season while posting a 5.19 ERA and 46/30 K/BB ratio over 67 2/3 innings as a starter and reliever. He should be able to find a minor league deal somewhere.

Marlins designated RHP Clay Hensley for assignment.

Hensley was a valuable member of the Marlins bullpen in 2010, as he posted a 2.16 ERA while striking out over a batter per inning, even serving as the closer for a period of time. But, he dealt with injuries and fell back to a 5.19 ERA over 37 games -- nine starts this past season. Someone will give the 32-year-old a shot, though he might have to take a minor league deal.
